How are your teams doing?

So far I'm kinda happy with the Rangers.

GROSSLY overpaid for Redden, then overpaid for Rosival.

Sather had me nervous till the trade with Colombus. Man, we robbed them, lol.

The Rangers really just need a Top 6 Winger, resign Dawes and Sjostrom and get 2 more back end Defenseman. Looks like its gonna be exciting for the Rangers next year.

The Wings are probably the only team to master the draft and free agency.

My Sens go Auld and Ruutu, ruutu is a good add.

Sent people to other teams and i'm glad redden is gone but would have like something in return but oh well.

So not really that good at all for now.

The person I wanted so bad was Brian Campbell, but he went to Chicago (Which has a great team).

So now for forwards, I would love to get Heuselius as a 2nd liner, and someone for defence.

Devils got Rolston, i am very exicted about that, (i dont think they should have ever traded him away in the first place but they did win the cup that year) He should help the pp alot and is a good bet for 30 goals, not to mention one of the better all around players in the league.

Then they signed Holik. i didnt know what to make of this at first but after looking at it he not a bad guy to have on the team, one of the best in the league on faceoffs, hits, and can provide some leatership and mentor the younger players. I think he might have been the devils answer to Avery but hes not with the rangers now any way.

They also resigned pando, salivador, and clarkson, so that was good. (brylin will be missed)

Id like to see them add a puck moving defenceman if possible, but would proabley have to come by trade cause i dont think we have much cap room left. but all in all im exiccted, we dont lose anything and we add a 30 goal scorer and a defensive center thats good for 10-15 goals and will make one of the better 4th lines in the league..

I like that the Blackhawks are trying to make a push.

Flyers haven't done much but resign some RFAs and trade for mid-level guys, but that's all they can do given the amount of money they have to work with.

Stop taking Pit's players!! That's two now!

How about this one: Pit may possibly get Jagr back, that would be uh...interesting.

I used to love when he came to Philly and he had his mullet, they would always play "dude looks like a lady" over the PA when he came on the ice.

Red Wings guarantee themselves another Stanley Cup by signing Hossa, that gives them 12, just one behind Toronto.

Hopefully Conklin will play like he did back in Columbus and Edmonton for the sake of competition. Otherwise we might as well start engraving the Wing's names on the cup now.

Detroit is STACKED and STILL has a pretty good amount of money to spend, not that they need to lol. I'm worried about the Sharks because they haven't done anything, but I'm also glad they haven't bought into this crazy ass market lol. If we don't trade for Boyle, I don't have high hopes for next season.

San Jose shouldn't be worried, they had a quality blue-line before they traded for Soupy (although they definitely overpaid in hindsight) and people forget just how young the Sharks are with guys like Vlasic, Michalek, Setoguchi, Mitchell and Carle (hell Thornton is only 28 or 29). Their real problem is between the ears, and that should be fixed by the coaching change and/or trading Marleau.

Markus Naslund just signed 2 years with the Rangers. I feel bad for Canucks fans, the GM isn't making any big offers. Except for the Sundin one, and if he says no, what will the Canucks have left? Everyone will be gone by then. They need to start taking bigger chances, go for Jagr or Demitra, hell even try Joe Sakic.

Sharks sign Rob Blake to a one year deal supposedly worth $5 million. The guy can still move the puck up and has a pretty good shot, but he's older now and not as fast. It's an expensive contract, but I don't mind it since it's only for one year and we still have some money to spend if need be.

Oh, the Canucks. They get Ryan Johnson, Steve Bernier, Matt Cullen, Darcy Hordichuk & Kyle Wellwood, but Mike Gillis doesnt go for any superstar(s), which is what we need. I mean, Sundin? Hes 37 with no Cup ring! We dont need an old vet like him to replace Linden and Naslund. Avery would have been a great signing, or a star like Hossa or even a player like Rolston, Tucker Stillman or Brunette. Brule would have been a good signing, with his popularity in Vancouver as a Giant.

There was something in the paper today about long term stuff, Pittsburgh has Crosby, Malkin, Staal, and Fleury under contract through 2013. I doubt there's a team who wouldn't love that.

I'm happy with the aquisitions the Rangers have made and the new direction they're headed in, but I have to admit both Pittsburgh and Detroit are scary teams. Regaurdless I have high hopes coming into the 2008-2009 season for the Rangers. It's going to be an exciting season. :D

Oilers improved a lot via trades, but haven't signed any free agents yet. Tried to sign Hossa, glad they didn't. Also tried to sign Jagr, but they were offering him a one year contract and he wanted at least a two year deal. I'm hoping they can bring back Peca for the third line, since the only thing the team really took a step back in was face offs after losing Stoll and probably not resigning Reasoner.

Best news for Edmonton so far though is probably that the teams in their division are getting worse by the minute.

Yeah, it was for the best, I hope he does well there. I thank him for making the Rangers a Cup Contender again.

Anywho, my favorite people to chat with are Toronto Maple Leafs fans.

They're team makes HORRIBLE trades and signings (Jeff Finger) but they have an awesome sense of humor about it. That being said, they're an Original 6 team, and teams like that shouldn't be that awful.

That Brian Campbell deal is ridiculous. Most of the contracts this year or ridiculous.

I think the Paul Mara signing was a breath of fresh air. Took less money to stay with the Rangers.

That's because the management here is bull****...

Chicago is awful and they're also an Original 6 team... But, they'll make the playoffs this season probably... Not so sure about the Leafs though... At least they're starting to get the meaning of 'rebuilding'...

Chicago has hope though.

Toews and Kane are BEASTS and are only going to get better. Seabrook is already a Top Tier defenseman that anyone would want on their team. Huet should be an upgrade to the aging Khabibulin.

The Leafs just give very questionable contracts (again, Jeff Finger). As a purist, I would love to see the Leafs a competitive team again.

Which is why I said Chicago will probably make the playoffs this upcoming season...:P

And I honestly haven't been paying a lot of attention to the Free Agency this year, but I just went on the NHL site to see who we acquired, and one of the players I see is... Curtis Joseph. :|

I said to myself, "WTF!?!"

Well, hopefully they give Pogge a chance this season...

(Just to note, I don't hate Cujo, just find it weird that they signed him...:P I even have a bobblehead of him in my bedroom!:P:lol:)

FG has not impressed me so far, but the Avs haven't had a bad off-season though. He re-signed Liles, Foote, and Wolski which is great, our D is looking to be good, nice to keep a young forward with alot of potential. But FG better hope Sakic and Foppa come back, because we didn't do to much in the offensive end. Tucker was a decent signing, adds some more grit to the team, something we lacked last year. Our goaltending looks hopeless, i don't know if FG and the rest of the Avs organization is blind, but Budaj sucks. He has proven that he can't hold the #1 job. Plus he cannot come through in the third period at all, he either is fatigue or just nervous, but he lets games get way to close or loses them entirely for us. Raycroft wasn't my favorite signing, but given it's only 800,000, FG and the Avs didn't have much to lose. Still would have liked us to keep Theo and bring up one of the many rookie goalies we have drafted over the last couple years, as the back up. If Sakic and Foppa come back, as well as we re-sign Svatos again, the team is looking good, aside from goaltending which will be a toss up this year. I honestly though wouldn't mind signing Demitra, we need so much help in the center position. Also would like us to trade Budaj and Arnason, don't think that will happen though.

How is Chicago awful when you said yourself they are a playoff team?

Pogge isnt ready, he'll be starting in the AHL all year and if all goes well he'll be NHL in 09-10

I hope the Leafs continue to be mediocre for the rest of history.

Recently, they haven't made the playoffs either like us...

I didn't say Pogge had to be a full-fledged starter, just give him a couple games to get the feel...

I hope the Sens plummet... Sadly, it won't happen...

As un-pleased as I am with the Avs off-season thus far, i wouldn't say we got worse. Mainly do to the fact everyone is healthy now, opposed to Smyth, Stastny, Sakic, Svatos, and about 5 other Avs being out simultaneously through out last year. We seriously got so screwed with injuries. I will say though, I hope that Sakic will be back, which I'm hearing he will. Only ? will be goaltending, but then again thats been our problem the last few years, to in-consistent. We added some grit to the team with Tucker, our defense looks to be strong(glad we re-signed liles and Foote), and if we we re-sign Svatos(arbitration), we have a great offense filled with both high potential young players, as well as veterans to help them along.

They had those three last year as well, so that doesn't make them any better after the subtractions.

It also sounds like they've signed Bertuzzi now as well, which pretty much does nothing but guarantee they'll take one more dumb penalty every game.

At least he was signed to a reasonable contract instead of that stupid one Anaheim gave Bert last year.

Leafs have done nothing, so much for rebuilding. Luckily they won't have tank next season, because even if they try to win they'll still easily be the worst team in the league, and I couldn't be happier about that; Tavares will get us back to the Stanley Cup. 8)

Leafs have done nothing, so much for rebuilding, they won't have tank next season, because even if they try they'll easily be the worst team in the league, and I couldn't be happier about that, Tavares will get us a Stanley Cup. 8)UssjTrunks

All of us will be appeased... And in a couple seasons, we will finally see Pogge in between the pipes...:D

I don't know...I think Atlanta will get those good odds to draft first next season. They're going to be pretty bad, I don't know how Ilya Kovalchuk can deal with playing there.

I like what the Leafs and Sharks have done this off-season. Kudos to Cliff Fletcher for not chasing some of the big-ticket free agents and overpaying someone like Campbell, Redden, Jagr or Naslund. The Leafs were never going to be competitive, so they might as well save the cap space for someone who deserves it. Plus a top-5 pick next draft certainly isn't going to hurt their rebuilding process. As for the Sharks they're going to have a hell of a defense infront of the guy who should have won the Vezina, and the coaching change should do wonders for the team.

I think Wilson will do a good job with the Leafs, albeit during a rebuilding phase...>.>

Yah I feel bad for Kovalchuk, he's in an absolute beast on a team that is most likely going no where, well atleast this season that is. I'd be frustrated if I we're him, especially since Atlanta hasn't done much this off-season.

So Vancouver overpays the oft-injured Pavol Demitra for $4 million per for 2 years? Give me a break Vancouver!
