Personally, I just dont like him as a manager. He seems to not..manage compared to ,dare I say, Willie Randolph  Layed back, lack of care to him. I still think, to this day, it was a mistake and I hope the Mets look for a new Manager this off season. Thoughts? Also, how do you feel about Omar Minaya, do you also think he should be replaced.

Oh and I wouldnt mind Bobby Valentine again :P

Indeed, I'd give them another year. Nobody could have won with that many key players injured.

That's not fair for Jerry Manuel. How can anyone expect the Mets to be a playoff team when pretty much all of their top players have been injured all year?

Injuries are one thing, but the lack of basic fundamentals of baseball---that's another. So many games lost due to errors. That falls on the manager. He should be replaced.

I want Gary Carter to be the Mets manager. He's earning his stripes in the minors...

Ok:roll: The East is the Phillies division until the Mets prove they can take it from them. The Mets were healthy last year and the Phillies took the division.

Healthy... not completely at closer. (which lead to way too many blown leads last season) Mets were a way better team earlier in the season when had their key players - leading homerun hitter, best lead off player in the game, most of the starting rotation, all star center fielder(who just recently came back)

Exactly, because its not like they were missing two of their key guys to the 15 day DL. Its been a nightmare!!! I threw in the towel after Wright got beaned in the head.

I don't know, on one hand, you really can't do all that well with so many key players getting injured, but then again, the Mets just played bad baseball this year. They lacked the basic fundamentals of good baseball, and it just became sad to watch. I'd personally give him another year just to see if the club turns around.

Well that's why those players playing "bad baseball" didn't make it into the majors in the first place. They should still be in AAA Buffalo or AA Binghamton to work on those fundamentals in a professional setting.

But then again, Santana wasn't all that good this season even before his injury. None of their other starters would even make the Braves rotation other than him. The Braves had more critical injuries last season and lost 90 games. Mets are gonna lose more than that.

Fiction can be fun when your a Mets fan. Aside from Santana, that rotation was suspect at best. And relievers were DEFINITELY suspect!!!! K-Rod WALKED MARIANO RIVERA with the bases loaded!!! Philadelphia to me was still the best team in that Division. Mets would definitely be better, but lets not act like this team was the 98 New York Yankees ;)

Don't know how Braves had injuries that decimated their team as the one the Mets suffered this season. Plus, is not like the Braves were going anywhere last season. And how Santana "wasn't all that good even before the injury"? Look at the stats, besides a poor June, he was very good.

Wasn't his ERA over 3? That's not good by his standards. And the Braves lost Hudson and Smoltz last season, and Hampton for almost the entire season. Then the 3 big arms out of the bullpen Soriano, Moylan, and Gonzalez for the whole season. Plus Chipper, Kotsay, and Diaz were injured for extensive amounts, or all, of the season. And then Texeira had to be traded away because the injuries kept them from competing. You wouldn't know that because ESPN doesn't cover the Braves like they do the NY teams. And you're the guy who earlier made a thread asking who are the best teams in the MLB and put the Cubs and Giants as choices and not the Braves. Well, guess who's 2nd in the wild card standings?

Well, the Braves were playing bad so I couldn't justified putting them as an option. And what about losing Putz, Delgado, Reyes, Santana and Beltran(for an extended period of time); plus other peripheral guys.

Actually Santana had been pitching injured most of the season before officially going on the DL.

They lost a couple of more hitters than the Braves did last year, but the Braves lost way more pitching, so what? Unless you think Oliver Perez is as big a loss as Tim Hudson. And the Braves had a better record than the Cubs at that time. So did the Marlins.
