so i saw the Raider's preseason a few days ago against the Titans, McFadden looked good, D has always been pretty good, and Jermarcus Russel looks like he has alreayd surpassed the overrated Vince Young, can Oakland have a winning season and possibly make the playoffs this year?

btw i am not an Oakland fan, just so you know.

Really? To me it looked like they had some real trouble moving the ball.

Lions are the real sleeper team this year. Just like the past... 5 years.

No.

Maybe 8-8 this season.

Maybe next year.

But not this year with their weak lines.

my only hope is that they can compete in the AFC West, I don't expect them to make playoffs but I still expect them to do a hell of a lot better then these past years especially with guys like Dmac and Russell who have looked greated so far

Yeah, they're going to compete for the cellar of the AFC West with the Donkeys and Chefs.

When Al Davis dies of old age or chokes on a chicken bone, then the Raiders can finally progress....

I agree. That team has ownership issues.

The Lions.....They've been weak since forever.....all they like to do is draft WR's.....they sux...last season was a fluke......as for the raiders.....watch out cuzz they are a sleeper....they have the second weakest shedule next to the damm patiorts...the o-line looks better......wow.......watchin the preseason....russell did have good time in the pocket to throw....defence looks awesome...with d.hall..asumgea...,wilson....huff...morrison...howard...etc....my only question is those damm WR's.....but yea....WIN LOSE OR TIE.....RAIDERS TILL I DIE!!!!!!

I think they could do well but I don't think they will get to the playoffs this year. I think the Jets are a much big sleeper team. Getting Favre was a much bigger deal than people think since they have a solid offense and picked up a few guys that should really help that defense.

I highly doubt you can determine sleepers from a pre-season game but they will be sleepers alright in the basement of the NFL along with the Dolphins and Bears

Could honestly see the Dolphins improving to 5 to 6 wins this season. Now the Bears.... 1st pick the draft fight with the Falcons.

I agree. That team has ownership issues.

-sighs- I cannot believe even a mod agrees to this bull. What most people don't know is that Al Davis puts a whole lot of money into the raiders, hence the big signings, top of the line training facilities and luxuries via travel and hotel stuff. stuff like this is important for when a player travels and can affect performances. would you want your front 5 linemen sitting in an economy class seat shoulder to shoulder for 6 hours? I highly doubt it.

The only real problem is he wants to win, and win now but there is this old saying, "Rome wasn't built in a day." All he needs to do is let Kiffin be in charge for 3-5 years. Let Russell develop (although i honestly think he's gonna be a bust), and just let the guys play. The Raiders are lookin' really good right now. and predict a .500 to winning season this year. Playoffs? I wish, but no, aint gonna happen but hell, it sure beats 4-12, and that's really all we need to focus on.

Al Davis wants the team to win, but obviously isnt doing much to improve it. signing high calibur players dosent do anything especially if you dont force them to perform.

I am a HUGE raiders fan and have always been one. But i do not see us making the playoffs this year. In all honesty looking at how weak our schedule is this year, i see us going 7-9. We are not going to be passing the ball alot with our bad recievers but we will run the hell outta the ball, and our defense has only improved with additions of Hall and Wilson who will replace Fabian Washington and Stuart Shweigert.

i'm as a very loyal fan, and granted they might not make the playoffs but like i said, it's an improvement from 4-12. I dont think our receivers are that bad, Curry can actually play, Walker might be overrated but he might actually step up. we'll just have to see. but what i'm excited about is our 3 headed monster of a running attack ^.^

You guys should listen to the Raidernation Podcast posted by Raider Greg. it's purdy darn good and insightful.

Yeah, i just think people find it hard to believe that any bad team can turn it around the next year lol.. every year it seems like at least 3 teams turn it around big time. Who expected the browns to go 10-6 last year? who expected the saints to go from 3-13 to the NFC championship the year before that?.... the fact is that every year in the NFL somebody turns it around, it's usually never who you expect it to be...

He's the owner, he SHOULD spend money. The fact that he doesn't stick his players in economy class isn't good, it's just sensible.

I predict their record will be 8-8. Their defense is good, so if they produce points on offense and don't turn the ball over too much, they should surprise some teams.
