All we talk about is baseball, b-ball and football so thought we needed a thread for other shit.
Any ya'll see that Djokovic/del Potro Wimbledon match? One of the best i've seen. Djokovic/Murray final should be good.

I guess this can be our soccer thread for the few of us that watch it. Anyone watching the Gold Cup?

Nice, do it.Â
Speaking of soccer, is it too late to move the 2022 World Cup? Â Can someone honestly explain to me what made FIFA think holding the World Cup in Qatar much less in the winter a good idea? Â The whole thing pisses me off and I genuinely hope the whole thing falls apart. Â I love the World Cup, but FIFA needs to pay for deciding to host its biggest showcase in a tiny country with no virtually no sporting infrastructure, backwards-ass Islamic-based laws, and crippling hot temperatures.

I agree. We got robbed off that WC and I hope it all goes to hell as well.Â
Speaking of Soccer though, is it worth believing in the US Soccer team after now after their 8th straight win or is that more smoke and mirrors due to the fact that it's basically all been against non-Mexican CONCACAF opponents?  Either way I have to say it's refreshing, I feel like the past couple years we'd have dropped or drawn at least a couple of those matches.

They own Concacaf at the moment. They will win this tourney easily even if they face Mexico cuz Mexico has their 2nd team not their 1st squad. If they lose it will be a dissapointment.Â

My brother and I always wonder what US Soccer would be like if our best athletes played. Imagine if the best athletic talents lour country had played soccer instead of football, basketball, etc. Think about Lebron James and Calvin Johnson playing up front, with Ed Reed, Richard Sherman and Dwight Howard on defense. Maybe a cerebral PG like Tony Parker manning the middle. We'd never lose.
Dwight Howard should play goalkeeper. Â That height, wingspan and leaping ability could really make him elite. Â I also think Tony Parker would probably play for the French team, considering that's where he was born and raised. My brother and I always wonder what US Soccer would be like if our best athletes played. 67,000+ expected tonight for the Seattle Sounders game. First home game for Clint Dempsey, and they're playing their biggest rival.monkeytoes61Kind of wished he stayed at Tottenham.Â
1. They have to be trained 1st. 2. Im sure Tony Parker played soccer when he was younger consider he's from france. My brother and I always wonder what US Soccer would be like if our best athletes played.
