I dont think its neither to be honest I think these two just balance each other out. Pats liked to throw long bombs to Moss but the giants front line is so good they cut off that option. The giants like to blitz but the pats were one of the best at screens. You could do this all day but thats my question are the pats overrated or Giants underrated to you?

The Patriots longest play of the game was 19 yards.

If you can pressure Brady and contain Moss, that offense is not an all time offense.

The Giants didn't stop Moss, they just gave up the short stuff and didn't let him go deep.

I'd say neither. If the game was replayed next Sunday, Vegas would still list the Patriots as overwhelming favorites.

Yeah, I agree there. The Pats just seemed flat, while the Giants were really into it.

They didn't really contain moss to well, but brady was bad.

Moss was open deep 3 or 4 times, he could have easily had over 100 yards and 2 tds

Neither. THe giants did a great job everybody agrees with that.

Randy MOss got open a bunch of times, problem was Brady never got a chance to plant his feet or step up into the pocket. Forced to throw passes on the move or make quick dump offs.

BRady didnt play bad to be honest, it was the O-line that didnt deliver.

THe Giants ran on guts the entire playoff run, gotta respect that though.

no offense is unstoppable if you can pressure the QB

Elways Drive

Montana and his 92 yard drive

Marino

Jim Kelly

Peyton Manning

ALl had great offensive lines, every time those teams lost, a good portion of the time was because they were pressured.

There's nothing stupid about suggesting an 18-1 team is better than a 14-6 team.

Right now, the Giants are the undisputed best team in the NFL. They've earned that and have a trophy to prove it. People can talk about or claim who's better or whatever, but it's moot point. The Giants are the best team in the NFL until next season starts. Period.

Uh, no. The Lombardi trophy doesn't go to the best team; it goes to the winner of a 12-team single elimination tournament. To say they are the "undisputed best team" is to imply that if the game were replayed, the Giants would undoubtedly emerge victorious a second time. Only the craziest Giants fan (or in your case, Manning fan) can seriously say they have absolutely no doubt that the Giants would win again. That's why they're calling this game such a huge upset - the better team didn't win.

no the pats played a horrible game and still could have won. also eli manning isnt that good. there where a couple of times in the 4th quater where he threw into triple coverage and should have been picked. asante samuel should have come up with an easy pick near the end to end the game. but saying the giants are the best team is crazy they are far from the best team. but they won the big game so props to them.

In that case, they can never prove who's the better team. If the Patriots win the second time, they have to play it again. They'd probably have to play it a hundred times to see who's truly better.

At the end it came down to this, two teams standing played an all out match to prove who's better. The Giants came out on top.

So you're saying the Rams were the best team in 2001?

Neither. Pats just didn't come to play and the Giants did. It should have been a blowout, and 9 out of 10 times it would be.

The Pats didn't play bad, the O-Line was garbage 80% of the time, that's why they lost and a few plays going the Giants way at the end.

The Patriots already proved themselves to be the better team. 18 wins, 1 loss, 655 points for, and 323 points against. Contrast that with the Giants' totals of 14, 6, 458, and 416. One game doesn't decide who's better. One game only decides who gets the trophy and who doesn't.

Of course the Rams were the best team in 2001. They were "The Greatest Show on Turf". That's why them losing the Super Bowl was such a shocker.

Yeah, the O-Line lost it. I've never seen an O-Line dominated like that, and that 20% time they managed to contain the Giants pressure, they marched down the field. So I don't know why you're shocked about it. If they have give Brady the time Eli had, they would have put at least 20 pts.

The Pats are not overrated. They are rated as is IMO. The Giants on the other hand are overrated IMO and yeah, I'll give them credit for beating the Pats but if this game were replayed next week, most people including me would take the Pats still. If this was a best of series, the Pats would come out on top.

I don't know why you guys get the idea that I'm not giving props to the Giants front four, IMO they should've been given the SB MVP award. But c'mon, that Pats O-Line looked like it was a College football team OL against an NFL DL throughout the whole game.

What's your point? Watch the game again because Brady got away with some lucky throws into triple coverage too. Every quarterback does it.

They are far from the best team? Are you kidding? They beat the Cowboys and Packers on the road, then go on and not only beat the 18-0 Patriots, but hold their record setting offense to 14 points. Yet you still say that they are far from the best team? You need to think about that.

One game does not decide who's better. That's just silly. If that were true, then we'd be saying the Dolphins are better than the Ravens, the Eagles are better than the Cowboys, the Rams are better than the Saints, etc.

20 years from now, people will remember that the Giants won Superbowl 42 in a major upset. They will not remember a team that couldn't win its own division as the best team of the year.

Or how about this fun little string: if one game decides who is better...

  • Florida International is better than North Texas
  • North Texas is better than Louisiana-Monroe
  • Louisiana-Monroe is better than Alabama
  • Alabama is better than Arkansas
  • Arkansas is better than LSU

Put it all together and we must conclude that the Florida International Golden Panthers, with their 1-11 record and last place finish in the Sun Belt conference, was a better team than the National Champions.

Its the Super Bowl, both accusations are wrong in the topic title. Grown men playing the game of their lives full of adrenaline, you never know whats going to happen, hell, Tyree will never be able to make a catch like that ever again, but it was a hell of a catch, and im not taking anything away from him.

:P My team lost in the second week of January (screw you, Favre). I was rooting for the Giants yesterday.

I'm not rationalizing the Patriots' loss, nor am I bashing the Giants' success. I'm just challenging the silly notion that one game decides which team is better.

The Patriots longest play of the game was 19 yards.

If you can pressure Brady and contain Moss, that offense is not an all time offense.

The Giants didn't stop Moss, they just gave up the short stuff and didn't let him go deep.

G5W

They didn't really contain moss to well, but brady was bad.

Moss was open deep 3 or 4 times, he could have easily had over 100 yards and 2 tds

did u watch the game? Everytime when he would try the G-Men would knock Brady on his arse. Didnt allow Brady time. NY FTW. My school is right by CHAMBERS and I will be @ dat parade tomo :)

[QUOTE="Blackfriend8"]no the pats played a horrible game and still could have won. also eli manning isnt that good. there where a couple of times in the 4th quater where he threw into triple coverage and should have been picked. asante samuel should have come up with an easy pick near the end to end the game. but saying the giants are the best team is crazy they are far from the best team. but they won the big game so props to them.rBurke100

You need to think about that.

the cowboys and packers are better than the giants. the giants just got hot at the right time. if they had to play the packers again they would lose if they had to play the cowboys again they would lose. they arent the best team but the best team dont always win thats the point of playing the games because if the best team always won then we would never need to play. so like i said the packers, cowboys and pats would beat the giants 9/10 times.

Become an NBA, MLB, NHL fan then. Thats the way it goes in the NFL and college football, and college basketball.

What's so hard about accepting the fact that sometimes, the better team doesn't win?

an easy pick! That would of been far from a easy pick since it was wasnt a badly thrown ball. The ball clearly beat him into Tyree's hands. Oh n heres da link: http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d8067c707 . #22 anit hugging himself anymore  (dats if u r talkin bout this play)

Good for you! Be proud of that hypothetical statement. I'll just be happy celebrating my team's lowly championship.

Pats were overrated and the G-men were underrated, i forgot what category they were number 1 this year on defense in. I said before the game, they had the run game to smash them in the mouth and the D to shut them down and rattle Tom Brady, so it would come down to Manning putting it in the endzone like the other teams failed to do and he did :D Oh and to favor them by 12 was ridiculous, they lost by 3 the last time in a game that didn't even really matter, plus they were on a role and built up confidence. That's why i told people who were so confident to bet on the Pats  Wow Blackfriend is totally delirious  The Cowboys were never that great of a team, all hype. The Packers were swallowed by the Giants D, i agree with the one fan who e-mailed ESPNs First Take the day after who said if the Giants played the Patriots 10 times they would win 6. The Giants are the best team, they went on the road for 4 freakin' games and won them all  People can't see that with their fanboy goggles, or they're blinded by all the hype this Pats team got.
