Is it a good trade or just a desperate move for Mavs to have a run to the Title.

Harris AND Stackhouse?

That's a loss for the Mavericks. Hands down. Stackhouse is still solid, more points than Kidd, while Harris isn't fully developed yet.

Bad Trade, the new thing seems to be trading for aged playersG5W

How?

Kidd in his old age is still top 5 PG in the league. He's better than Harris in just about every aspect and Stackhouse is a good role player, nothing more. They haven't gotten anywhere with these two players, so bring in a all-star caliber player who can immediatly make you a contender.

Kidd, Nowitzki and Howard is a very dangerous big three.

if anything the Mavs got shafted because they gave up a young PG and even 2 draft picks. Im good with this trade even though im going to really miss Jason Kidd and his triple double hopefully(his last game tonight) he gets a triple double(100th of career) and leaves the Nets fans in a good note.

actually mavericks are trading away, Harris, Stackhouse, Diop, Ager, and Devan George for Malik Allen and Kidd

I think this is a bad trade, they will not win a championship without a good low interior defense

Word is Stack will return to the Mavs. If that's the case, they barely gave up anything. Ager, Diop, and George are nothing but role players, and I'm not at all sold on Harris. Kidd solidifies this thing now. Unfortunately, it leaves the Mavs with NO center depth.

Maybe they aren't done yet?

Imho , what a horrible trade for Dallas ...... I am a Mavs fan by the way.

Dallas already has good guards , and trading away Devin Harris is a bad move. He is a great young player with a lot of upside. With this move , they give away one of their interior defenders and rebounders and that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever given what the top teams in the west have. Now they have to depend on Erik Dampier to go up against all of those great centers and power forwards in the west ..... good luck with that.

If the Mavs think they can just run out Jason Kidd , Jason Terry , Josh Howard , and Dirk .... with no interior presence and a weak bench and win a title they are literally off their rockers.

Plus they would be giving up draft picks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You dont know much about the NBA if you think Jason Kidd's presence on the court is only counted by his PPG.

Great trade for both teams IMO. NJ wasn't going anywhere with Kidd while Mavs become instant contendors with him in their lineup. Harris has potential but the Mavs want to win now, and that wouldn't happen with him as their starting PG. Kidd is good for another 2-3 years left, PG isn't as physically demanding as other positions like Center.

Harris always reminded me of a poor man's Tony Parker. Kidd is far better and will help the Mavs Championship cause in the next couple years more than Harris.

Breaking News-Devon George uses his no trade clause(for some reason they gave him one) and block this trade, So Jason Kidd is not officialy a Maverick anymore they got to rework it. Mav fans excited?

Dumb trade for Mavs, great trade for Nets.

Mark Cuban is an idiot. This is the guy who let Steve Nash walk so he could pay for Erik Dampier because he thought Nash wouldn't last. What a moron. If Cuban wanted to help the team he would sell it.

RIP Mavericks.

Ya good thing Stackhouse is coming back. But I do think Harris was the real deal and will be missed. Will be fun to watch though with Kidd now running the show.

$$$ will change his money.

He's using the no trade clause to get some extra cash out of this for himself. NP for the Mavs trade will still happen.

How can you people say this is a bad trade? Sure Harris is going to be good for years to come, but by that time the team will be broken up, and hes not a player you build around. By making the trade for Kidd you give your team a chance you win it all and get better in a IQ sence.

What!? Devean George blocked the trade!? He better not mess it up! :|

Anyway, I think that Jason Kidd should have another 2-3 strong years left. This was a good trade, and I'm glad that the Mavericks will probably get Stackhouse back, too. He's a very good player from the bench and brings strong energy to the team. :)

As for the Nets, they are getting some good players. So, congrats Nets fans! :D

i hate devean george. today's stats: 0/11 FG's, 0/2 FT's, 0/4 3 point FG's, 0 points. what kind of player gets a no trade clause from consistent numbers like those?

If George allows this deal to go through, he will lose his Larry Bird rights which could significantly reduce his salary next season as he will be a free agent.

In a nutshell, the Larry Bird exception allows teams to exceed the salary cap to re-sign their own free agents, at an amount up to the maximum salary. To qualify as a Bird free agent, a player must have played three seasons without being waived or changing teams as a free agent.

If he is traded, he no longer qualifies. So obviously he does not want to change teams before the end of the season.

I seriously doubt the Mavs would exercise that exemption anyways, even before this. Devean George is just a guy. Look out your window. There's probably someone walking down the street that can do what he does.
