I disagree. It's fun watching them clobber opponents.

I suppose you haven't watched much of the Suns this season, huh? They have a completely different team then 2005 (remember JJ was also out for two games in the Spurs series, limiting Phoenix to five deep, maybe six). Now they can go eight, and they've also added new dimensions to their offense and defense. Suns in seven, if they protect home court. Spurs in six if the Suns don't.
They were still 1-2 with Johnson. It wouldnt of made a difference.

correct me if im wrong but the Suns were playing without Amare Stoudamire during last years playoffs
you are correct, the spurs are gonna have to deal with stoudamire nowAmare wasn't in last year's playoffs. That's true, but he was TWO years ago. At that time Amare was dominant dropping 40+ pts a game and the spurs still beat them. Amare is no where near that level now. I don't think the Suns will win.
I'll take the Spurs in six.

I agree, I do not think Amare is at the level he was a few years ago, although he is playing pretty good though.

you are correct, the spurs are gonna have to deal with stoudamire nowWrong, the suns didnt play the spurs last year in the playoffs so what does last year have to do with now? They played them in 05 with Amare and Spurs won 4-1 and yeah Amare was better then.
I hope the Suns....GS always have difficulty against the Spurs. badaboom187
I'm hoping the same, because GS clobbered them in their last game. So with any luck, I'll say Suns in 7.

Amare was playing better then, than he is now? :|
All Amare was doing two years ago was slashing to the basket and dunking. Now, he's got a good mid range shot to add to his arsenal.

He was more explosive because he had a complety healthy knee, yeah he shoots more of course cuz he isnt as explosive. The Spurs had no answer for him back then and he wont average what he did 2 years ago this year in this series. Look at his stats for that series and compare them to this series when its over, you will see what im talking about.

I agree and not only that his freethrow percentage is a lot better now
The best series in the playoffs in my opinion (now that Mavs-Spurs in conf. finals isnt happening). Lots of great players in this series. Spurs seem to be able to contain Suns better when it matters, and Suns fear SA more than any other team. Spurs in 6.d12malu
agreed and i think Spurs can shutdown Suns transition game than any other team...
theoretically, the Spurs is a better team; but personally i prefer the Suns and i hope they'd win.
one thing i think it's in favour of the Suns is that the Spurs has aged, and perhaps not very well. i'm hoping that they would bulk under the Suns offense.

I watched a multiple Suns game and he seems completely fine. He's as explosive as he was back then. If anything he's offensive game is more complete and more efficient. Suns now have improved players in Bell and Barbosa and Diaw.

How? Only player that can keep up with the fast Suns players is Tony Parker and maybe Ginobli.

if you only watched last game between these two teams last month which the Suns lost, Bowen pestered Nash and completely shutdown him also Bowen can stop Marion and you're saying that TP and Manu is the only player that can keep up with the Suns...
Spurs are having problems with Amare and so are the Suns with Duncan i think this series is good and i can't imagine Spurs losing in this one...btw Amare 05 >>> Amare 07...
The Suns need to apply the Kobe theory on Duncan. Don't double him, let him score and shut the others down. I've watched the Suns for five years now and I've been to many of there games. I know how badly the Spurs own the Suns. But it's not Duncan who beats the Suns, it's Parker and Ginobili with their open threes they get when TD kicks it out to them because of a double team.
Also, I'd take this year's Amare over 2005's Amare any day. Wanna know why? Because he's offensive game has really came out. Amare was all flash in 2005, dunking the ball, getting fed by Nash. Now he's worked a post-game into his rhythm and has a solid 15-foot jumper to mix with it. He's more conscious about rebounding as well. Not only that, but his defense has suddenly came out and really shined these past few weeks.

The Spurs defense will counter the Suns speed on offense. Why do so many of you think that speed will always win over elite defenses? The game slows down in the playoffs as well as easy buckets are harder to come by. The Spurs will get set on defense quite quickly not giving the Suns a chance to do whatever you all think they will do.

My bad I had thought they played the spurs in the playoffs last year sorry,on the stoudamire part I highly disagree on him being better back then, his offensive game is complete and just all around better than he was 2 years ago[QUOTE="dkhw"][QUOTE="yrag31"][QUOTE="d12malu"]The best series in the playoffs in my opinion (now that Mavs-Spurs in conf. finals isnt happening). Why does everyone think basketball suddenly slows down in the playoffs?
Look at this: In the 2004-2005 playoffs the Suns scored an average of 112 points a game. Two more points a game when compared to their regular season average of 110. In the 2005-2006 playoffs, the Suns scored an average of 107 points a game. One less when compared to their regular season average. Now both those averages were throughout the entire playoffs as well.
Really, I don't understand where the mindset that suddenly every team, disregarding their style of play, will suddenly play a grind-it-out, half-court game. Some of you serious?
