On ESPN right now they said Taylor and his girlfriend were awoken by a loud noise in their house, and then someone came into their bedroom and fired two shots.... just hearing that makes this sound like more than an attempted burglary.

RIP

Exactly. No f'n burglar goes into the bedroom. The point of burglarizing is to take what you can while not getting caught (which means not making noise). These guys failed on both. This was an attempted (and successful) murder.

This is sad news. It's hard not to think it wasn't attempted murder since he has a bad history of hanging out with the wrong crowd.

"Eight days before the attack someone pried open a front window, rifled through drawers and left a kitchen knife on a bed at Taylor's home, according to police."

If that happened to me, I'd just pack up and move.

Wait wait wait wait wait...

So a "burglar" breaks into a home, does not STEAL anything like regular burglars, walks upstairs to the bedroom, makes all kinds of noise, unlike real burglars, and shoots a man?

He doesn't aim for center mass, which any sane person with a gun, regardless of experience, would inherently do based on common knowledge of the human anatomy?

He misses the head, at damn-near point-blank range, and the even bigger target of the body, and aims for an artery in the LEG!?

He doesn't shoot to kill in order to preserve the secrecy of his identity, like a real burglar would?

The phone line is suddenly cut, and no one notices during the ENTIRE DAY but only at night, AFTER the shooting?

And this is supposed to be an attempted robbery? BS. How stupid do people think we are?

This is a hit gone good, not a robbery gone bad. A premeditated action, not a random stop. A fcking murder of a father, not a murder of a thug.

The idea that we are to believe that this is an attempted robbery is nonsense and insulting.

Taylor changed his life for his daughter. God will bless him for it. Hail Taylor and Hail to the Redskins.

it's sad to see potential wasted because of poor decisions made in life. This was no burglary or robbery - Sean had enemies and ran with a bad crowd.

Damnit, thats not cool at all. Last night before I went to bed I saw he was responding outta the coma...and to wake up to this.

And his daughter... damnit.

I'll pray for his family and friends. That is terrible...and I hope they catch the bastards that did this.

Taylor was into some foul stuff, this was the third time in 15 days someone had got into his spot. Why in God's name didn't he get security. A senseless death. R.I.P.

It was unusual that he didn't get some kind of security after the first incident. But it's such a tragic lost to a key player on the Redskins defense. Terrible day in the NFL as he just turned his life/act around.

First Darrent Williams, now this. Two young guys breaking out in the NFL, and starting families, gunned down. This is a truly sad event and I hope nothing but the best for his family right now.

Im not trying to sound like a bad guy and I am suprised that this even happened and is truelly a tragic day today. But isnt it if you shoot below the waste its not attempting murder??? So if this person is caught he may only face up to 4 years in jail or something like that.

How sad. I would've beefed up security like others said or leave altogether. A poster mentioned being shot below the waist isn't considered attempted murder and I think they were right. Maybe the shooter knew this too, and also knew to aim for an artery. I find it insulting that anyone would even for a second think the [murderer] was simply trying to rob the place.

yah but not every day an nfl player gets shot and killed, high profile people get attention because there well known, its shocking to even hear about, but at the end of the day you realize there just regular people and death doesnt care how famous you are. or what good youve done for others, its sad and it sucks

Dude shutup.Seriously. We all know this happens every day to people, we arent ****ing idiots. And its just as sad when that happens and death is the same for everyone, not matter who you are. But athletes are role models and people that we look up to and theyre in the spotlight. This is a sad day for football and for Sean Taylor and his family. I live in Denver and we all had to go through Darrent Williams death..and this is just as bad.Just senseless and stupid.

It's a real shame this happened to him and his family. Listening to the media yesterday, like ESPN, they were all told that there was some slight optimism to be shown because he lightly squeezed a doctor's hand.

I never expected to hear the news of him dying. It is quite tragic indeed. The most depressing thing about this is how his daughter won't be able to grow up knowing her father. Heart goes out to the friends and family of Sean Taylor.

The whole thing is sad. Maybe it was his history that caught up with him. No one goes into a hometo robyou and go directly into your bedroom and shoot you in the groin. This was something personal between Taylor and this murderer. I just hope people who live a lifestyle he had wake up.

between this board and extremeskins, thanks to all the support from all the teams in the nfl who have come and post their support in our hard times, from our biggest rivals eagles, giants and especially from the cowboys, 99% of your guys have shown real class and have put the game of football aside to show your true colors. it's just a game.

to those of you who state "wow, this is not surprising" and feel otherwise towards this man you should note that despite his past, he never killed anyone and that in his final moments, he died defending his family and he is in most circles considered (with respect to our soldiers out in iraq) a hero for what he did.

thanks again

I don't think his family needed his protection---just himself. If they were a targeted, they could of easily been shot as well since they were in the same room, don't you think? yea he never killed anyone, but you don't have to be a killer to be a bad guy. His history just caught up with him. Just because he tried to change himself for the better, doesn't mean that the others around his circle were as well. Do I feel bad for him, of course I do. There is a certain part of all this that hopefully reminds people to be careful of who you hang around with.
