ok , me and a few buddies were talking about the whole lawrence taylor thing and the HOF came up . if a player displays bad morals ie: drugs, assault ect. should they be removed from the hall ? aren't they held to a higher standard or is it on field performance only ?and this doesn't just have to be about football HOF either. what do you guys think ?

should be to an extent. if he went and got a dui, big deal. but if he went and killed 10 people, then no way.

it wasn't so much the rape allegation (i think he will get off on that charge) for taylor. but he was a crackhead back when he was with the giants , and micheal irving was busted with crack when he was with the cowboys . not much of a role model . but where do you draw the line ?

I say no moral standard at all, what they did outside of sports has no bearing on what they did to get in the HOF in the first place. Unless it comes out that they did something wrong to get ahead while playing, nothing should get in the way of letting them being recognized for PLAYING SPORTS. And yes, Pete Rose should be in and Bud Selig is a tool.

Nope, athletes are in the hall of fame for the way they play not the way they live their life, unless they have taken illiegal enhancers to advance their athletic abilities than I say no

Yes. A monster like that doesn't deserve to be bestowed with such an honor.

Someone who's good at football shouldn't be rewarded for being good at football because of somethingnot related to football? And if they bestow him with that honor before he committed the crime he should have the honor, for playing football again, taken away from him even though he's retired and has already posted his body of work that people have dubbed worthy of honor?

OJ is still in the Hall of Fame in the same manner as he was when first elected. This after being found guilty in civil court (not criminal) of 2 deaths, and now he is most likely going to be in jail for the rest of his life for armed robbery (karma is a you know what). And to tell you what, i'm fine with it. What he does after his career, right or wrong, has no bearing on what he did as a player, and he was a hell of a player
