Knowing Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruths record fair and square, should they just take off Barry Bonds 762 and leave Hank Aarons record as #1?

Well MLB seems to have made its "hey as long as we make money" decision long ago so the actual record won't change.

Having said that IMO Aron holds the legitimate record. I've no interest in whatever Bonds did while cheating.

But it's just horrible how Bonds did it. And Hank doing it without "help".

Well in my mind Hank holds the REAL record.

Well we dont know what Hank did so thats unfair to just call older players clean. Back in the day they took drugs to. Things just werent illegal. People took Amphetimine shots back in the 50's like we take tylenol today lol. Ofcourse I'm not saying hank did anything to help, but I'm saying dont discount the posibility.

Barry broke it and that's all there is to it. I don't put much into it though, because it's only a matter of time before ARod breaks Bonds record. ARod has not cheated. Also this is America where you are innocent until proven guilty. There is still to this day no hard evidence that proves Bonds took steroids.

Bonds broke it, would be foolish if the MLB changed it back to Hank holding the record. We don't know if Hank helped himself, so Bonds record should remain in tact.

I don't really care what Bonds did, cause that record will be broken again and hopefully by someone who is a bit more clean. I don't really care for those longevity records cause a lot of people can just keep playing for minimum wages and eventually break those types of records.

No I don't think so, you could argue that Aaron played in the smallest ball park in the league at the time. You could also argue a lot of other things, the bottom line is that I feel with this current era unfortunately steroids was a big part of it and a lot of people were doing it. Now if Bonds was the only one then I would say yes I think he should be stripped. The bottom line is that is not the case.

EDIT: What a lot of people don't understand is that you just don't become an all-star hitter or pitcher in a cycle of doing steroids. You still need hand eye coordination

and talent. god i don't hear people complainin about jay gibbons. barry was a hall of famer before he started juici. anyway so what if he took steroids, he still played the game. i don't get this whole crap about cheating. i don't think he did anything that warrants his ridicule.

Wait, so breaking the single-season home run record, and the all-time home run record, all while juicing, doesn't warrant ridicule? I'll agree, he was one of the best hitters BEFORE he took steroids, but that doesn't change the fact he DID IT. And broke two monster records in the process.

Which makes it all the more arrogant, greedy and stupid. Hank Aaron did cleanly, why couldn't Bonds upheld himself to the same ethics than him.

No, what a lot of people don't understand is that once you start getting older, your body wears down and you can't continue to hit homeruns as well. The roids make you stronger and somebody in their 40s (like Bonds) can continue to hit homeruns like they were in their prime.

And people saying Aaron could've taken drugs that give him an unfair advantage like roids is just retarded, and it's getting old. The only thing he could've possibly taken would have rid him of tiredness, nothing else. They're illegal now, but in no way would've prolonged his career or made him stronger.

Aaron still has the record imo, but until incontrovertible evidence demonstrating Bonds's alleged use of steroids is found, he still should still have the hallowed mark. After all, as someone stated before me, this is America where one is innocent until proven guilty.

I never disagreed with that, but there a lot of people who sit here and listen Jose Conseco about how he says that he would of never been a great ball player without them. I don't believe that for a second, steroids don't make you a superstar. You have to be good at something first before it be of any use to you.

BTW I never said what he did wasn't wrong, and I know what his age was and how it prolonged his career. I don't think many people disagree with that, but to sit here and say that this guy was only good because of steroids is nuts. The man probably would of had a chance with the pace he was going at and with that being said I dont know why he did roids in the first place.

One thing you can argue about Aaron is that he did indeed play in the smallest ball park. Which by no means should take away his accomplishments, but I'm just pointing that out.

Totally agree. But if people do want an * by it then I would like them to also list all the pitchers he hit homers off of that took 'roids so we can see that too since that's something Aaron didn't have to face in his day.

What I would like to mention is that in Aaron's auto-biography he admits to taking "greenies" which is an aphedamine(sp?) and enhances performance. So he's not squeaky clean either. People just need to give this crap a rest. You can believe the HR King is whoever you want it to be. It's okay I promise.

There is still to this day no hard evidence that proves Bonds took steroids. cmpepper23
We'll see about that when Barry goes to trial for 14 counts of perjury.

I still see Aaron as the leader.
