I'm kind of wondering what will happen to the Eagles now that they failed to make a Super Bowl run once again (I'm a Niners fan don't say anything about me being some Cowboys fanboy). Will they continue with their current methods and hopw that things will finally go right in the playoffs next year, or will they make some changes? How long will Eagles fans be satisfied with Donovan McNabb and Andt Reid? Will the Eagles consider trading McNabb? Will Vick be gone next year? Iy's pretty obvious that Eagles fans are getting restless because there is no team in the NFL in the last 10 years that has deserved a Super Bowl title (and hasn't gotten one) more than the Eagles.

What do you guys think?

Well they've proven to be one of the most patient franchises of the past 10 or so years. I think they stand pat. No need to reinvent the wheel despite the chorus of knee jerk reactions that are sure to be flying around Philly. A lot of people might think that McNabb will never win the big one (the same was said of Peyton) but who else gives them such a chance to win? Kolb? Don't think so. They have a good core of receivers. I think McCoy will be a good back so the offense should be set. I don't think Vick stays around. I can see someone taking a chance on him as a starting QB with another off season of work under his belt. They need some impact on that defense. I can see them drafting defense in the draft

Eagles needs IMO: 1.) new head coach 2.) new safety 3.) bigger D-line would be nice 4.) At least one more receiver who can be physical and a tool in the red zone I agree with BigGhost_AJT that the Eagles will draft defense.

I think Andy Ried is safe... but Donovan may be gone. He has never been popular in Philly, despite his success.

Every single year there's been talk about McNabb leaving. It didn't happen then, and I don't think it'll happen now.

Donavan's back up is a far better QB than him. They need to start Kevin.

mcnabb and reid are safe. they dont need to go. right now the eagles have to work on the pass defense.

This, although I hope they keep McSwag. As long as they have Andy Reid, I don't see them ever winning a SB.

First and foremost Im a die hard Eagles fan. McNabb should NOT be gone. But do to a LOT of IDIOT fans in Philly that can not embrace McNabb that might force the management to make a move.

  • They need to get the O-Line back Healthy.
  • They need more size on the D-Line
  • They need to get a possesion reciever! a MUST for any kind of super bowl run.
  • They need to get a power back, look to move Westbrook. Keep McCoy.
  • Shawn Bradley will be back to help the Line Backer problem.
  • Need safety help.

Lot is wrong with the team but you can not force McNabb to be superman every game and make plays when you have NO run game, NO possesion recievers! Andy Reid has to change the game plan. What he is doing now worked when they had a every down reciever like Owens, and they had Westbrook being the most dynamic back in the league next toLT.T.O is gone and Westbrook is not the same.

I think and I hope the Eagles move Mike Vick to a team that will give him a chance to start. Bills? 49ers? Panthers?

Panthers run game would be like the Falcons old running game when they had the best in the league.

But I think Mike Singletary would be a GREAT coach for Mike Vick.

Get rid of McNabb and get rid of Reid

Their legacy of being too inept to do anything of significance for the Eagles needs to stop

They've reached their ceiling, they aren't winners. They're slightly above the status quo and no one is happy winning "just enough" each season

I mean the freaking Buffalo Bills at least dominated one conference in the NFL 4 years straight and they're seen as some of the biggest losers in NFL history yet this Eagles team isn't seen as the biggest joke going?

How is it doing just enough? McNabb is no where NEAR responsible for the small D-Line, The banged up O-Line, The small recievers, The banged up linebackers, the bad linebackers, the bad safety play, the no run game, the bad play calling. And McNabb managed to have his team 11-5.

The eagles would not be where there at without McNabb. No quarterback in Eagles HISTORY is as succesful as McNabb. His competition Jaws will admit that McNabb has done more and more succesful.

They are winners, dont get winning and winning supers bowls twisted. Super bowls define GREATNESS but nothing more.

Romo finally got his first playoff win, McNabb has quite a few of those! Steelers, Pats, Colts, Giants, Ravens, Rams, Bucs are teams to win superbowls in the Reid/McNabb era.. out of all the teams that have not won a super bowl they are the two with the most wins, and been the most consistant. So dont say they dont win. Eagles have been more consistant and won more games then any team in the NFC in this decade. Only Pats and Colts have more wins.

The Eagles have had a few super bowl type teams, but they couldnt get it done and come real close in 04.

You're talking quantity not quality

McNabb and Reid have fooled the fanbase for an entire decade making them think that each year they have a shot and each year they fizzle out

There are just some players and coaches who don't have what it takes to bring their team a championship and Philly has been cursed with a coach and QB with that inability.

They're not winners, they're "just enough-ers" and that's how they've stayed so long

They've reached their wall and they've shown they just don't have what it takes to get over that wall, let someone else build a team that can break through the wall

Build a team around McNabb to win a superbowl andthen come back. This team was not good enough, last years team was not good enough, have not had a REAL superbowl team since 04.

Hmmmmmmm im pretty sure the Ealges didnt make it to the superbowl last year because the Eagles D decided to play like crap the first half of that game. McNabb and the offense did quite well. almost brought them all the way back.

Not going to argue with you. There are tons of QBs and Coaches who have not won superbowls, and tons more who have not had the success that them two have had. ill take McNabb any day. Built a team around him and then when he doesnt win the superbowl then we can talk.

They have built a team around him

I mean come on, put someone in the perfect situation and they can win it all. Trent Dilfer won a Superbowl with all the pieces around, Mark Rypien won with all the pieces around.

McNabb has had a coach that only wants to give McNabb things. They had one of the best defenses for years and McNabb still couldn't get it done, they had TO in his prime and still couldn't get it done, they have one of the best all around backs and couldn't get it done, they have the best home run hitter this season and yet again, nothing.

McNabb and Reid are sand, you can't build on them

If the Eagles trade McNabb I will be INCREDIBLY pissed. If Eagles fans think this team sucks with out Brian Dawkins, take away McNabb and say hello to the cellar of the NFC east. The Eagles as a team just fell apart against Dallas. McNabb is a great quarter back. I could care less what any idiot has to say against that. And starting Kolb over McNabb is such a dumb idea. Kolb was great in two games but that's just hating on McNabb if you're willing to throw in a kid with two good games under his belt versus McNabb's resume.

Andy needs to go back to doing some of his trick plays that the Eagles did years ago to keep teams in check. Time to let Westbrook go, he just doesn't have it any more. Keep Vick and use him more than once in a while and use him more than just in the wildcat formation. Get some help with the D-line. They didn't blitz Romo like the normally do. McNabb needs to work on his running game. Last week against Dallas he ran for a few yards on one play and he looked like he pulled something and was winded.

I wouldn't blame them for clearing house. At the same time you clear house you shouldn't expect to be building on the same level you're at now (even making the playoffs).

Haha, I'm gonna laugh if Kolb ends up on another team and tears it up , like what Matt Shaub did. If he does start in Philly eventually and plays well, the Egals fans are going to be hilarious. "Yeah, can't believe we didn't get rid of McSwag earlier!" "Oh, I knew this guy was gonna be great."

I like McSwag and want him to remain an Eagle. Kolb is decent and played well with nearly 1,000 yards in 2.5 games. I don't think he's ready for the starting job though. Give McSwag one more season, a final goodbye and then let him go to some other team. Honestly, I want McSwag to retire as an Eagle, but that won't happen unless he wins an SB. On a related note:

Lol ok guy. ITS CALLED MATCH UPS! ITS A PART OF FOOTBALL!!

Philly crushed New York, New Yorkbeat Dallas, Dallas crushed Philly.. So what your saying makes no sense. Its a part of football.

the Giants matched up perfectly with New England in the super bowl. Thats why they were able to win. Great D-Line to pressure the Brady is what they needed.

Eagles can not create pressure on Dallas due to the big dallas O-line.

Its how football works, though you knew that since you were posting on a sports forum.. Guess things are not what they seem.

McNabb is the best QB in Eagles history... This season's failing aren't on him. Let's face it, by the end of the season the Eagles had major holes at linebacker and free safety and on the defensive and offensive lines. How many plays did McNabb have time to throw on in the first half of the playoff game? 4 or 5? And the Mike Vick and Leonard Weaver fumbles are certainly not his fault. Personally, I want to get rid of Andy Reid. Have had this opinion for about 3 years now. Guy is just a bad coach. We are always not prepared because of this fat idiota. Plus we always have one of the most one dimensional offenses even though we had one of the best backs in the league for a time. I like McNabb, and I will continue to until he noticeably declines. He had a really good year. I hope he retires an Eagle. I like Kevin Kolb. I really do, and I hated him before this season. I think he has a bright future. But the kid only played 2 games, and one of them was against a terrible Kansas City team, and in the other he made key mistakes in an Eagles loss. It's just too early to toss McNabb on his ass for someone as unproven as him. We still haven't seen what Kevin can do once teams get game film of him and how he'll hold up against tough NFC East opponents.

I think the loss of JJ had a big effect on the D-line, they're just not the same. Reid isn't bad, but he could do a lot better. When we had Staley,Westbrook and Buckhalter, Reid was using all 3 and mixing things up and it kept the other team off guard. There was a home game against the Cowboys were on the opening kickoff Reid had them do an on-side kick and we got the ball and then scored. Later on the did a fake punt and then a fake feild goal and scoring both times. That's what they need to do again and McNabb needs to get back into running shape. 5 or 7 yards and dude is winded.

What do you guys think?

thequietguy

The eagles really need to get better on defense. I dont see McNabb or reid leaving. I really dont understand why so many people always throw those two under the bus. Reid is a good coach and McNabb is a top five qb. Alot of teams would love to have him if he was ever let go by the eagles.

I can see the Eagles shopping McNabb this off season.
