Why go now when you can further prove yourself another year, and be offered perhaps one of the better jobs in the league, instead of a team in the state the Redskins are in.

The Redskins job IS the best job in the league.

It's worth the most

Has an owner that will spend the most

Is one of the few franchises that gets to control the direction of the NFL

He's stupid to turn down the best job in the NFL

I agree. The ass backward redskins hired coaching staffs first before a headcoach. Who wants to come in and work with that instead of being able to build your own staff? And this way, Spagnuolo will more choices next time. The Giants just signed him to a 2-3 year deal i think worth $2 million per.

YES!!!!! As a Giants fan I'm so stoked about this!

The Redskins job is not a dream job. I mean for crying out loud, they already hired the coordinators! That alone will chase away potential head coaches. They don't want to walk into an Al Davis like situation.

LMAO, im curious to what makes the redskins the best job in the league? it might have the owner that will spend the most but will give the coach very little control of what goes on. he is not stupid to turn down a job that he cant bring in his own people.

I live just outside D.C. and i'll tell you that majority of people in the know couldn't DISAGREE with you anymore. There are already coordinators that were signed without consoling a head coach. So that is a big problem to start out with. They are 20 MILLION over the salary cap. I wouldn't want to go into that. And to top it all off he will be coaching in a place that for whatever reason expects greatness. It's not the 70's and 80's anymore but this area expects superbowls. That is a lot to walk into for a first coaching job. The best coaching job in football? You're nuts. There's a reason that the redskins are the only team in the league w/out a coach

I think the reason is clear...

NOBODY wants to work for Dan Snyder.

Plus, he getting $2 million a year as a coordinator with the Giants. Coughlin will croak soon, and then he'll get promoted to HC of the G-Men.

Except he can't hire his own guys b/c they're already hired. Also he probably didn't think the personnel suited him. If the Giants play as good on defense as they did this year, he'll be the no.1 candidate of all teams most likely. He can have his pick then.

And spending the most isn't good when it's not being spent sensibly. 20 million dollar over the cap isn't an ideal situation for a rookie coach.

Outside of the GM of the Royals or Pirates, the head coaching position of the Skins might be the worst job in pro sports...

I think he should have taken the Redskins job just because of the fact that it may not come around for him again. Once the Giants dont win the Superbowl again, which will be next season, everyone will be off the Spagnuolo bandwagon and he'll be looking for a better job. But alas it won't be there. Redskins head coach would have been perfect for him.
