The Perkins to OKC trade may make it a little difficult, but I am not that worried. They have everything to win a championship; experience, shooting, defense, a great coach. The only thing that can stop them is an injury to one of the starters which is unlikely because none of them played overseas this off season. Limit Duncan's minutes in the first round so he doesn't tire out like last season and anybody in the west is a cakewalk. The #1 overall seed makes it nearly impossible for them to lose the finals with the stupid 2-3-2 set-up.

Ginobili will get his 5th ring and first finals MVP and Duncan can retire on top.

I don't think Crouch, and Van Der Vaart is enough for the cup. They aren't good enough yet.

Not counting out the Lakers until they lose in the playoffs.

I agree the Spurs are more than good enough to win another title. I wouldn't mind if they did either...theyre cool.

I lol'd at 5th ring. The man has 3 rings. Check your facts!

And yeah, they are one of the favorites, that's pretty obvious, they have been for the past 10 years or so.

But clear-cut favorites? No. Just no.

Evidently, both suck and aren't championship material.

I don't like the Premier League enough to care about who's on top or not, but the Spurs are championship material, they're first in the league. A lot of wild assessments in this thread.

The Lakers haven't played near their talent level this year and have had some pretty bad games this season, but dont count them out.

George Hill has effectively shut down Kobe in both of the games they have played this season and Blair always goes off against them. It obviously wouldn't be easy to beat LA, but with game 7 in San Antonio the Spurs have a major advantage.

While I think they are the favorite, I think calling their competition in the West "cakewalks" is stupid. Dallas usually chokes when the going gets tough but they have a solid team and the Lakers can beat the Spurs in a 7 game series. I don't think anyone else can really challenge them. I fully expect it to be Lakers-Spurs for the conference championship in late May.

I can't imagine how happy I would be to see Tim Duncan retire on top.

But whether he wins another championship or not... I'm going to be really sad to not see him in uniform anymore... whenever he calls it quits.

I'm sure that would bring up some painful memories for you. I lived in Kirkland for 4 years and I was sad to see Seattle lose their NBA team. It would suck for them to win after moving the franchise not long ago...

I'm watching the Spurs and Nets... and the Nets are giving them a good game... but the Spurs are just so deep and relentless it's amazing. The Spurs outside shooting has been lethal. And it's hard to not like and root for Tim Duncan. The guy is such a pro and classy guy in a league that's filled with many prima donna @-holes.

Dude. Why did you do this thread? Let the mavs and lakers go in as favorites. Spurs don't need hype. They do great without it.

I guess the Spurs go down 3-1 to build suspense and because they really want to play more 7 game series, huh. On the flip side of this, its about time the Memphis gets some wins in the playoffs. Every year they beat top teams in the regular season and then don't do anything after that. It would be funny to see them in the conference finals.

Thank god this was nott the case. Spurs are GONE!!!!

I can enjoy watching the rest of the playoffs without having to watch any games with san antonio involved (specifically no manu ginobili flopping every five seconds).
