Hack a Shaq...in first quarter.
This is going to be exciting

I love how people complain about the tactic. What's the NBA to do, make rules for lack of talent? Shaq should learn how to shoot free throws. Witchking111111I love how you just repeated what the announcers were saying. :|
I'm not complaining that it is a "cheap" tactic.
I'm complaining that this is why people don't enjoy watching NBA anymore, we want to watch them play, not shoot free throws...horribly.

It's a cheap but valid tactic. I want them to do soemthign about it in the off season, not to help shaq and bad FT shooters but to help make the game more enjoyable. I usually fast worward threw FT's if i have enough recorded on my dvr. Why? BECAUSE ITS BORING. The NBA wants people to have fun watching their games, I'm sure they hate them hacking shaq just like the fans do.

I love watching the Spurs pund the Suns.
Cry baby, no defense teams like the Suns deserve to lose every postseason. I can't wait to hear Mike D'Antoni's excuse this year:roll:
Several things I'd like to say.
1. There's no excuse for ANY professional basketball player to make less than 70% of his free throws. If a guy is getting fouled on purpose because he can't make them, that's who you need to be whining at instead of the team who's exploiting his lack of talent. Hell, why don't we make a rule that tony parker can't run as fast in order to make up for every defender's lack of quickness against him?
2. Know why the Spurs have 4 rings and the suns have zero? Toughness. Which of the 2 teams mentioned just shuts up and plays the game? Which is the one who whines and complains and makes excuses for every loss. Which is the team that hustled after every loose ball and helped each other out on defense? Which is the team that had cement in their shoes every time a rebound went up or a player got left alone on the pick and roll?
3. The Spurs are not a "boring" team. They are a great team that plays great fundamental team basketball. If you find that boring, then you're watching the wrong sport. If your idea of "exciting" would be for Tim Duncan to rape a hotel attendant or for Tony Parker to run into the stands and beat up a fan, then you should be watching cops instead of basketball.
its called " You play to win the game" last time i checked the NBA is the World Wrestling Entertainment, if you are not cheating you are not trying.Lymetime69
I have a problem with what you're saying, because fouling a player who can't make free throws isn't cheating.

Don't get ridiculous. You are telling me you think watching Shaq get fouled and shooting free throws over and over again in the first quarter is exciting?
I wish someone would hack tony parker in the face, or that fake ginobili, what a boring team, no one likes the spurs unless your from san antonio they need to fix this before everyone totally quits watching the nba, the spurs are why their ratings suck, no one cares about the spursSegArgyle
Nobody cares about the Mavs. You know why? Because they have never done a thing. You wanna know who cares about the Spurs? HOF players, because they like to watch a Dynasty, a team play defense, and a team who does not choke, unlike the mavs. So you tell me who cares about the Mavs outside of Dallas? No one.

Yes, but it assumes that the player can shoot free throws at least as well as a 10 year old. I don't play basketball for a living and yet I can go out in the driveway at any time and make at least 75% of my free throws. A rule shouldn't reward a player for sucking.
while i fully understand that the "hack-a-shaq" can make for some downright ugly basketball, why should the Spurs be faulted for exploiting one of the largest weaknesses in Shaq's game? This is a player whom the Suns traded for with the intent of finally, finally makin over the slump (i.e., Tim Duncan and the Spurs). However, in spite of the adjustments Phoenix made and talking about being the better team, the Spurs still have the Suns' number and have been executing wonderfully in this series (beating Phoenix at their own game while maintaining their defensive identity). It may not be always pretty, but Pop and the Spurs are making the Suns pay (which is evident with their 3-0 lead in the seires) by expoliting this weakness and their inability to play defense. Unfortunately for the Suns, it seems as though they acquired some new ones during the regular season.
Also the way the Spurs are running their screen and roll is an absolute clinic. Sorry, but this goes back to D'Antonio getting out coached again, and again. Pop makes a move and D'Antonio counters with "... keep doing what we are doin..just play tougher!!" Their offense isn't the problem but D'Antonio thinks it is as that's the answer to every question about defense the media throws at him. NOt only that, he needs to change his frigging strategy. you don't play the same defense if your continuously getting beat. if the screen and roll is working because you have shaq out there, move him off Duncan for goodness sakes. Force them to do something else other that the same play over and over again.

I found it hilarious how many times Shaq ended up having to pick up parker on a pick and roll switch and then nobody came over to help. If your quickest guard can't stay in front of parker, then how the hell do you expect a 300 lb man to stay on him?
