If they get more star players from other countries, i think it could last a long while. The problem is, unlike for baseball and basketball, foreigners dont dream of playing soccer in the US as a kid :S

Luis Figo has said he would like to play in the MLS some day, and he used to be the best player in the world. The only problem is that he is old like Beckham, and the MLS needs young stars, not has-beens (though they are good has-beens).

David Beckham is perhaps the only stary capable of generating this much hype in the U.S. before I even got seriously into football I knew who Beckham was, It would be nice to see the likes of figo and ronalod playing stateside but they can't draw a crowd like Beckham, what he is doing for the MLS is fantastic and his performance against the Red Bull will finally shut the idiots up who say that he is past it.

The better, more competitive teams are over in Europe though, so most good young players want to play there to get a better career. I don't mind watching high-lights, but watching it live is really boring imo.

I love PLAYING soccer and I think it is a very interesting game but I have to agree that it's not a very good spectator sport (on tv it is quite boring).

I agree that soccer is very boring if mediocre teams are playing. I am a fan of soccer but the presentation by the MLS leaves a lot to be desired and so is the commentary. If you guys watch some of the bigger leagues from europe and most international matches at any level the game can be exciting to watch. I watch live streams of games from overseas with lcoal commentary most of the time and it is a hell of a lot more exciting than the likes of shep messing calling the games.

I think about a moth.

What about a butterfly?

Seriously, probably until the next playoffs.
