The Reds have a had a quiet but productive offseason by landing potential Hall of Fame manager Dusty Baker, and top releiver Fransisco Cordero, this (in my mind) totally shifts the balance of power to the Reds in the NL Central, plus with a healthy Griffey and Adam Dunn, and a ever rising Brandon Phillips, with young players like Edwin Encarnacion the Reds are back in buisness.

When you're a last place team, adding a closer shouldnt be your top priority. P.S. Biased.

Last I checked they were 4th in the division, not sixth, adding a upper level closer to a team that led the NL central in blown saves last year should definantly help, hell, if half of those BS' were wins, the Reds would be in, plus they got a great manager in Dusty, the Reds are in buisness.

Stop it. Dusty "I killed Wood and Prior" Baker is the worst kind of manager for the Reds. Now he gets the chance to kill Homer Bailey too.

Prior and Wood undid themselves with poor performance, you forget the team he led to a NL championship, and theres no doubt Dusty can manage a damngame of baseball, the reds are in the mix in a weak NL Central.

I'm a big Cincinnati Reds fan and i agree that they are making some good moves in the offseason. However, it will take more than Baker and Cordero to turn us into first place contenders. We need more pitching. In time tho i think we will make a splash.

Arrojo needs to pitch less inning/lower pitch count, and could use another good starter

I guess it can be seen as a step forward... You hired a below average manager in Dusty Baker, and spent your offseason cash on a closer... it's not terrible, but it hardly makes you first place contenders. Sadly you're a homer and wont realize it.

Agreed. Also, don't expect Baker to make much of a difference.

I beg to differ, in any other division maybe, but hell it's the NL Central, the weakest of them all, remember, if I told you last year before the season started that the Brewers would finish second and Prince Fielder would jack 40+ homers you'd laugh at me, all I'm saying is that in the NL Central, every team is a contender, they have great power in Dunn and Griffey, A good pitching staff with a great Ace in Aaron Harang, a closer that is a top tier guy, a rising star in Brandon Phillips, and a for sure above average manager ( 1162-1040) is his career record, if you have 1000 wins and are a + .500 guy your above agerage, they have a chance.

PS: What team do you like?

They have a guy who dislocates his shoulder getting out of the bed in the morning in Griffey, a guy who bats .080 with thirty home runs in Dunn, and a closer who's been blamed for keeping the Brewers out of the playoffs this year. Oh yeah, and a manager who derailed the careers of two of the best young pitchers in Cubs history.

Sure, I guess they have a chance. After all, "NL Central LOL" works every time.
