Does the new TNA Impact game even stand a chance at competing with WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2009?

This is the first TNA video game, and yet there have been so many Smackdown games, I've lost count.

From what I've read, TNA will have few match options, a very limited online experience, and a roster that's half the size of what it should be.

I don't see TNA's first game making a very big "impact" on the gaming world. Especially since WWE is offering a choice between Smackdown VS. Raw 2009 and Legends Of WrestleMania.

The only advantage I can see that TNA has is that it comes out 2 months prior to WWE.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Only thing that would hurt SD vs Raw 09 is that the past couple versions have been disappointing.

Midways goal isnt reall to make a big "impact" on the gaming world. they've already stated that with this game they are trying to go after hardcore wrestling game fans by making this first game with excellent GAMEPLAY. so depending on who you are will pretty much decide whether you will think impact will be better. the majority of people buying smackdown games these days are people in the younger audience because theyre games have lost appeal to alot of the hardcore audience. so i think alot of people will buy the impact game just to try it out because its an alternative from the wwe games....

TNA has some great wrestlers, but man, their storylines stink, and I hate that 6 sided ring too much ring for a good show, they need to get rid of that

TNA Impact the video game doesn't look too shabby, I think, similar to Rock Band vs Guitar Hero III, the TNA video game may be able to knock the chip off of THQ and the Smackdown franchise. Actually make them work in later installations.

...similar to GH4 and RB2. GH4 looks like it is actually going to be a step up in the franchise.

I'm a WWE fan myself but, the last WWE video games have been disasterous!

I saw the commercial of TNA Impact and, one thing I liked was the graphics!!

Then I thought about WWE Smackdown vs Raw, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 (Coming Soon) and, realised that every year they are really just upgrading the roster and, the graphics, a bit. Not much the gameplay and, the game itself.

I'm going to try TNA Impact myself but, aren't going to buy WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2009 because, WWE has to understand that we want more! And, if we keep buying they're games, they won't give us more!

So, until WWE changes they're gaming, which has become to be apolling, I'm not going to spend anymore money on them but, yes on the competition (in this case, TNA Impact) so that WWE can get a move on!!!

Funny thing is back when TNA had the weekly pay-per-views before the shows and montlhy pay-per-views they used a 4-sided ring, they switched to the 6-sided in like late 2004 or so

I have TNA Impact, and while it's looks good and the controls are easy to pick up, it just doesn't have enough features to put it up there with SvR 09. No Lockdown matches, ladder matches, and an overall lack of wrestling moves hurt it in my opinion. Although if they come out with some type of DLC for it, the replayability on it will last much longer.

the DLC content was said to be for a small roster update.

agreed seriously...i hate TNA, but i want them to get more popular and have a bigger fan base and move to a 2 hour show and move to monday night to compete with the WWE...why? because if vince feels like TNA is getter more fans and moves to monday nights to compete with him like WCW did...well let's just say...BRING ON ATTITUDE ERA NUMBER 2 BABY!!!

See why can't Madden fans think like how you do? You seem to get it. I never had much time to watch TNA. I find myself watching Raw more than I would TNA, even though I think TNA has far more talent. Does TNA still come on Thursdsays?

I was hoping for this game to come out and set the tone much like NFL 2K games did, but after reading reviews from several sources, noting that there aren't many characters, moves, and modes, I was disappointed. I'll pick this up if it's $20 dollars. So I'll wait.
