Joe Johnson, Andre Miller, Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison come to mind, talent wise, not necessarily stats-wise.

He's not winning rings because he stinks. Just watch some film on him in Washington. He's not even starting any more. And its Washington, they have no interior presence. Joe Johnson isnt underrated. He just doesnt get as much recognition because he's on the Hawks. If he played for a more sports enthusiastic city, then he would get plenty of exposure. The consensus around the league is he is a top 10 player at his position. +1 for Andre Miller. Best assist man in the league, even at his age. I remember when he dropped a dime a night playing for the Cavs. A 20 win Cavs team. I add a different twist to this question. Who do you think makes the biggest contribution to a teams ability to win without being a strong stat guy? Or better yet, which player plays the biggest role of whether or not a team can win consistently without being viewed as either a all-star or top flight player at their respected position?

*sigh* Nobody else ever mentions Tayshaun Prince but me in these threads. :(

Prince is definitely the most underrated player ever. He's so good yet never got voted into an all-star game. He's arguably the best defender in the game, like Pippen. And he's the hardest working player in the game.

And he's the most humble player who always puts the team ahead before himself.

Seriously, Prince is a star, but no one seems to carre.

Couldnt disagree anymore with you then. Kapono is a big part of the raptors team and they NEED outside shooters with JO and Bosh down low. Kapono and Bargnani are hands down the two best players off the raptors bench imo. Kapono was +12 in todays game when he was on the court andSolomon was - 2 when on the floor. There is a reason why Kapono and Bargnani get more minutes then Somolon.

please tell me you dont base players of the +/- Crap. Kapano didnt do anything in todays game against the celtics. Only person out there trying was Bosh he was pissed at his whole team that he didnt even join the Timeout Huddles.

I don't really watch any other teams yet besides my Lakers, so i'll say Ariza, this is a break out year for him and i get the feeling he'll be a hero in the playoffs :D Kind of like our Rondo or Posey. :x

I don't think he's underrattted at all, evertbody has respect for Prince. It's just the east is too deep in fowards for him to get in the all star game every year. I'm pretty sure in years to come he will be voted in as his role will increase in following years.

Tayshaun Prince is a great player and he is in for a career year this season.:) Go Pistons!

BTW: With all the recent Portland hype, everybody is talking about Aldridge being underrated so that he is actually overrated now. Crazy.

Anyway, here is my list (top 5 underrated players):

1. Ramon Sessions (Bucks)

Dude is a triple double waiting to happen, but the Bucks are too dumb to play him more. At least he gets 30 minutes/game this season. He dished out a franchise best 24 assists last April against the Bulls. I hope that his contract is short so he can leave the Bucks. He is only 22 and he'll wreak havoc on the court when he gets the chance.

2. John Salmons (Kings)

Now he gets the chance to play, but most people don't know who he is. Believe me, he can trade baskets with the best of 'em.

3. Sasha Vujacic (Lakers)

The Machine. But he is shooting better than .41 this season from 3pt land and he knows his role.People give him a hard time, but he improved a lot in the last 3 years.

4. Julian Wright (Hornets)

With him on the court, the Hornets are so much better. CP3 throwing alley oops to him will get more common these days plus he has the potential to be a defensive monster like Josh Smith. He even plays some point forward in garbage time and he is doing a very good job. I'm scared already.

5. Joel Przybilla (Blazers)

You can say what you want, but he can protect the rim and he makes attacking guards change their shots. He owns the zone when he isn't playing against Amare and Shaq.

I left out some obvious ones like Thaddeus Young and co., but there are quite a few underrated players in the league.

So people are just dumb, Jeff Foster?, K. Brown?; T. Prince is a "great player"?. Do you even know what underrated and great mean? It seems by some estimates here, everyone is underrated at the NBA.

Brandon Roy is viewed as both a all-star and top flight player. I was thinking more along the lines of the Ben Wallace type of players in the league.

Underrated was the title.. not GREAT.

Jeff Foster gets the most rebounds in the NBA for how many minutes he plays. SUre he sucks on offense, but hte guy does the dirty work (rebounding and defense). You do know that basketball is more then just DUNKS and points scored right? You do relize that alot of hte time DEFENSE wins championships?

Underrated = someone who does something very well and doesnt get enough credit for it.

Ive been a paers fan for 20 years and Jeff Foster is one player over all those years who gives 110% everytime he is out there and doesnt mind to do the dirty work in a ball game.I never once said hes a GREAT player, but he is VERY underrated, his REBOUNDS per minute will show that.

Lebron, Kobe, Garnett = Great

Foster, Andre Miller, Prysbila and others are players who i dont think get enough credit for what they do for there teams (doesnt always have to mean scoring). Either because they dont dunk enough or do enough flashy things.

The Raptors are a team of role players. They have one established star in Bosh and a bunch of players who can go 0-for-10 or for 23 points any given game. It's good for basketball that it's a real TEAM by most standards, but they're 7-7... So they need more consistency from their role players.

Not just 3 all-stars, but 3 future hall of famers. I could get 10 assists a night dishing to Pierce, Garnett, and Pierce.

Marbury, there's a thin line between arrogance and confidence, i just think he is mis understood.
