He basically said that he's stepping down because he wants to spend more time with his family. Honestly, I don't believe that. It has to do with his team's performance this year and the outlook of next year's team. He should have retired last year so they could have made Charlie Strong the coach but now they will have a lackluster coach taking over. Hopefully Urban will be back in a few years and he should go coach at his alma mater. :D What are your thoughts about Urban Meyer stepping down from Florida?

So you don't follow what goes on there?

He's had a list of health problems and I think that he sees that he's done all he can under his circumstances

Um... didn't he have health problems last year? Yeah, the whole "spending time with family" thing isn't as dubious as it sounds considering. But it is hard to believe that, in no way, the performance of his team didn't contribute to it.

If it was his health, then he should not have came back for this year's team.

Maybe for the bowl game, but he won't be the HC next year.

I thought Dan Mullen is Mississippi State's coach. But I'll be glad as long as Adazio isn't HC

No, the bowl game will be Meyer's last game. Meyer will be HC for that game. And thank goodness Adazio won't become HC

Wouldn't it be funny if Meyer went to Denver, where, coincidentally, Tebow happens to be on the team?

i aint gonna lie , as a seminole i'm glad urby's leaving "again" lol.he's a great coach and i'm sure he's not done as a coach. but i think the system he set up was kinda his downfall with the big running style QB worked great with tebow (one of the best to play the position). then Newton, the next in line gets kicked off the team. then takes auburn to the national championship. had to piss him off . now i'm just waiting to see ALL the names get tossed around for florida's next head coach. chucky gonna get a free weekend in gainsville? or is mullen comming home ?

This is a rare instance where I see "spend more time with family" and believe it. I don't think he's going to Denver (or anywhere else in the NFL). He may return to coaching someday, but it won't be for several years. At least not until his kids are grown up and out of the house.

So your telling me you think Florida going 7-5 is why he retired? IMO he has the 2nd best coach in college football, 65-15? In 6 years, 2 National Championships. In the SEC!

He has been coaching for 25 straight years since he was 21, he has ALL THE RIGHT IN THE WORLD TO STEP DOWN AND TAKE A BREAK. Why do you care what he did it for? He is a grown man, has a family, 3 daughters. If you are not in his shoes then you have no reason to question the mans decision.

I dont get some people. smh.

I remember peoplesaid hishis system would never work in the SEC lol.

Florida and Miami both of jobs available. MIA has to be salty to know Florida will get whatever coach they want first.

Oh wow. This can't be good.

"Near the end of the speech the freshman cl@$$ was going crazy, saying they were all leaving and they kind of lost it for the most part."

"Everyone was on the phone calling people they know and the freshman and sophomore kids were all saying the coaches don't care about us — and those kids just kept saying they are going to leave. I mean a lot of players said they were leaving, but the true Gators are not going anywhere."

I don't blame them

They're losing their coach and their pipeline to the NFL through the Patriots and now they see all that go up in flames?

I'd be upset too

The Kids will be fine. They will get a GREAT coach to replace him. If they dont believe in them selves they will leave. They are a top recruiting class, soo no reason they cant stick together and win. Makes sense huh

I have mixed feelings on him leaving. Hopefully Muschamp era will be great too.
