Vick: Did he really do anything wrong?

I feel bad for Mike Vick. This young man has all the talent in the world and everyone is turning their back on him. For what? Dog fighting? I know that people in America love dogs, I even own a dog. But should dogfighting be the end of Vicks career? No.

After Pacman Jones "made it rain" at a Las Vegas strip club and then hit a stripper who tried to pick up the money. A fight broke out, and Pacman was reported saying "your gonna die!" but maybe with some more foul language. His entourage got kicked out of the strip club and a bouncer there was shot. He is now paralyzed for life.

Next season after Pacman serves his suspension some NFL team will give him another try, another chance. But I would be suprised if a team picked up Vick. Why? Just because he fights dogs? Give the man a 10 or 12 game suspension and let him get back to what he does best. Play football.

So electricuting, drowning, shooting, and pouring gasoline over and setting dogs on fire isn't worth a good six years in the slammer? That's absurd.

i agree that a paralyzed human out ranks dead dogs. but if vick wasnt even smart enough to distance himself (either on paper or in real life) from the people running the kinnels and taking part in the fights over the six yrs he has been in the leaguethen he deserves whatever he gets. lets just hope the peta-puffers dont file a class-action civil lawsuit on behalf of dead dogs.

I agree with all of those except for Ricky Williams. He was just too smart to play football. The dude wanted to smoke some pot and told the truth. He was "englightened" by it and realized that money and football aren't everything.

Vicks charges carry up to 6 years and a $250,000 fine. He'll most likely get up to 1 year and a fine. He'll get his 1 year suspension, he'll get cut by the Falcons, then in 2009 he'll sign with a team, and he'll spend 5 good minutes with Wilbon and Kornheiser.

even if they have this that and the other thing. doesnt mean that vick's career is over. doesnt mean he is going to prison for six years. he could reach a plea deal. or could get away with it like oj.

yeah, it might have been his backyard, out of god knows how many backyards he owns because he has so many places. someone could be enjoying coke in one of donald trumps offices and he would never know because he owns so many. okay, that's stretching it a little far, but that's along the same type of idea that vicks defense will be using. but in all honesty, do i think he's guilty? well, do bears crap in the woods? exactly.

As for Vick, I hope he does see jail time. And never steps foot on a football field again.

If the CEO of my current company was convicted of dog fighting and the horrendous acts that go along with it then he would loose his job in a minute. Vick and the CEO have something in common and that is they are there to sell a product. In this case that product is the NFL. Actions like that seriously impair their ability to do that and at the worst actually make that product look bad.

Some athletes seem to think that just running, jumping, or throwing fast is all they should have to do. The fact is that they wouldn't make a dime doing that stuff if it wasn't an entertainment business and accordingly people don't want to cheer or contribute to a business that pays a guy who goes home and maims, electrocutes, or drowns dogs.

It is seriously not hard to avoid doing such things and collect massive paychecks. Why Vick couldn't do it is beyond me...

For me, Vick needs to be proven guilty before I jump on the social bandwagon of attacking him. One of the things that news media has layed mention to is that opinions of his guilt or innocence are split racially.
