Owns the most rushing yardsrecord for a single game? If I remember correctly, Jamal Lewis had the record with 295 against the Cleveland Browns.

" I think you mean LT "
Hehe, true. I feel bad for the guy he was on top of the world last year.
Being from Minnesota, and not having a lot to cheer about for the last 9 years, this is an incredible breath of fresh air.
You know this might be a little premature to say, but Adrian Peterson might be the best all around runningback in football and will be for a long time.
Ngamer05
you may be right my friend, he's the first back i've seen since Bo Jackson with that kind of speed and power

Yeah, I don't want to talk about him being great and all that. LT is having a pretty bad season after his amazing season last year so anything is possible. He has had an amazing season though and it if wasn't for Brady, I would say he should be a serious contender for MVP.
He is scary good.schox5
You're right on that matter. He's very scary good indeed. However, I have to give props to what I saw the Vikings offensive line do for him. I haven't seen such big gaps created like that in a long time. I just wish the offense had more balance, because if they continue to put that much responsibility on AP, he'll probably get injured. But I really couldn't believe what I saw him do on Sunday. If it wasn't for the Pats/Colts game, AP's record breaking performance would be all over the sports headlines.
The Vikings line game him some great holes as well and if you give AP a hole it seems every time he will make the most of it. Scary indeed.
He also is now the first rookie ever to rush for 200 yards in two games in his rookie season. Goodness knows he could do it again . . .and again ...
Peterson ran all over the Chargers, BUT...
He's still too reckless and almost blew the game for the Vikings. With the Chargers down 21-17, 10 minutes left, and the Vikings driving to put the game away, Peterson fumbled at the SD 19. Of course the Vikings went on to pull away, but it could have lost the game. He didn't learn anything from unnecesarilly flipping into the endzone in college, breaking his collarbone. If he becomes a smarter player he could be one of the best ever. Unfortunately, I don't see a dumb guy like him using his brain anytime in the near future.
Also, it was real classy that the Vikings left him in when the score was 35-17 with 4 minutes to play (he was still 37 yards short of the record, so don't use that excuse). The Vikings coach must have talked to Belichik before the game.
Wow, dude, that was pretty shallow. What's wrong with running out the clock? Should they have passed instead? :roll:Peterson ran all over the Chargers, BUT...

Hes got over 1000 yards all ready lets compare him to some greats first year stats
Walter Paytons first year he ran for 679 yards in 13 games
jim brown ran for 942 yards in 12 games
emmitt smith ran for 937 yards in 16 games
barry sanders ran for 1470 yards in 15 games
yea hes gonna be good on pace for a 2000 yard season

In fairness to all those outstanding players a GREAT deal depends on your O line and your team. The Vikings Offensive line is a hole making machine and frankly they don't have much to do but run the ball all day ;) That's not to say AP is any less an outstanding runner, he had some players where there was no hole and he just made one, but just like every RB much of what he does is take advantage of what his line can do for him.
Too bad he couldn't get 300 yds...I remember when gaining 200 yards was an amazing achievement which it is. But we're seeing this more and more in recent years with guys gaining over 200, let alone 250.Los9090
Don't worry. I'm sure he'll get it when he plays the niners in a few weeks....

That was a poor excuse for a Patriots comparison, and as a Vikings fan, I'm offended. Say it was the '98 Vikings, and they were throwing to Moss and Carter with that score with 4 minutes left, then make the comparison. They ran the ball, which is the most cordial thing that they could've done at the point, especially with the record within reach, why not? Since AP fumbled earlier, isn't there an amount of risk involved? Yes, so it wasn't sure fire, especially the way he was being stopped in the first half.
How does AP fumbling make him stupid? It's not like he pulled a Vincent Jackson move from last season and got up and spun the ball without being touched down. THAT was stupid. Are you saying that he's stupid because he's leaping over defenders and lowering his shoulder for what sometimes turns out to be 3 or 4 extra yards? That's called playing football. I haven't seen him attempt a flip into the end zone after he broke away...he tosses the ball aside and celebrates.

They said that only AFTER the 35 yard run that put him within 3 yards. I agreed with them at that point, but he shouldn't have been in when he was still 38 yards away with a blowout. The backup should have been in.[QUOTE="duxup"][QUOTE="murlow12"]Peterson ran all over the Chargers, BUT...

I'm sure I'm not the only person in the world that feels this way, let alone San Diego.Peterson has talent, but mark my words, he won't finish the season playing like that. I don't wish injury on anyone, but that guy is too reckless. He's been injury-prone his whole life, and the NFL won't be any different.

That's why they're protecting him. They're giving him very few carries most games. Except this game, he had low carries on almost all games.

I think they need to give Brooks Bollinger some time at QB. He may turn out to be passable. Unlike Jackson who has been staring down his receivers, and still can't hit them when they're open at times, Bollinger has at least shown some ability to check down.

Haha, I am. You dirty Viking fans need to be put in your place, and that place just happens to be at the very bottom of the NFC North.
this is his first season and only one season if he can do good for a few more seasons then we can call him the best. just like LT had a good season alst year and now look at him now nearly as good of a season

He is better than Jackson, but that is nothing to brag about. He will have to do for this year though. Hopefully the pass blocking improves or it won't matter who is the QB.
