It came out of nowhere. I heard on ESPN he may be out for the rest of the year because of a detached retina.

What?

Anyway, it looks like Suns are gone and their new attempts of making a run is over.

Bummer.

That sounds quite painful. Anything eye related just makes me queasy. Hopefully he recovers and is able to at least come back healthy next season.

The window for the Suns shut last year when they made that stupid, stupid move to get Shaq. It was like Steve Kerr was just thinking "OMG guys, we can get Shaq! A future hall-of-famer and one of the best basketball players ever!"...but he didn't realize that Shaq sucks now. Even with Amare this year, the Suns would've had trouble making the playoffs...and even then, it'd just be to get killed by someone like the Lakers in the first round.

Steve Nash is getting older and is probably leaving the team when his contract is up (I think he's one of those 2010 Free Agents, but I'm not sure)...Shaq, obviously, is old and washed up. Amare is probably outta there and will become a free agent in 2010. Grant Hill has to be approaching 60 years old. Jason Richardson is overrated, in my opinion. This team better hope someone like Robin Lopez develops into a superstar (yeah, right) or they're going to be terrible in a year or two. Steve Kerr is doing a really bad job as GM.

I was disappointed the other day when the Bulls decided to trade for Brad Miller and the guy with the goatee instead of Amare...but now I'm happy they didn't make the Amare trade. :P

Amare got poked in the eye pretty bad in that last game. I think he had gotten poked in the eye earlier in the year. He wore protective goggles for a while but decided to go on without them because he said that they were uncomfortable and distracting while he played. Bet he wishes he could take that back now. As for the Bulls, when Terry Porter got fired we all knew Amare wasn't going to go anywhere. So the move for Brad Miller and John Salmons was not bad. They were starters for the Kings. Granted they are a bad team, but Salmons is averaging more than 18 ppg. Maybe he's the x-factor in that trade. I've heard some good stuff about him. And Paxson made some other good moves I thought. He was able to trade away Larry Hughes and his horrible contract over to the Knicks. And he traded Thabo Sefolosha to the Thunder for a 2009 first round pick. And he said he's not resigning. Hopefully he positioned the Bulls well for that big free agent class of 2010.

This makes it a lot harder for the suns to make the playoffs.

Detached retina... that's an injury I would never want to experience.

I wonder if that means his eyesight is permantly impaired, not good for a basketball player.

Well, now i just lost Amare on my fantasy team. Not to mention Nelson from the Magic, and Camby has been on the injured list for a while now. But I am still in first place thanks to Tony Parker going crazy lately, and Lamarcus Aldrige keeping my low post players stats going.

I did some research and it seems like it's repairable if it's done quickly with good doctors. But Amare Stoudimire will have to use goggles for the rest of his career.

On Februrary 19, in a game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Stoudemire suffered a detached retina, although he may have injured it earlier as he had been bothered by the same eye even before this game. He had injured the same eye in preseason, although this injury involved a partially torn iris, with no damage to his retina. He said then that he would have to wear protective goggles for the rest of his career, but stopped wearing them after seven games.[15] Stoudemire underwent eye surgery to repair the retina, and that the recovery would take eight weeks, which would force him to miss the remainder of the regular season
