What sport plays the best as video game?

American football seems to work pretty well even though I wouldn't think it would due to the stop start nature and the lack of control over all your players. But Madden seems to pull it off pretty well.

Soccer works really well good tatical pace of the game. Good view of the action. Tight controls.

But my winner has to be ice hockey(which I have no intrest in the sport). Many of the same reasons of soccer but super fast and brutal.

Any views?

What I like about American Football games, is that you can reasonably finish a full season in a week or two. If you want to do that for basketball, baseball, or hockey, you'll either need to shorten the season or simulate a lot of games. I don't like that.

Golf, I'd say. I want to say Football, but the AI in the games I've played has left me a little disappointed, to be honest.

Football (as in NFL) and Golf because they are relatively simple sports. Those sports tend to be less creative (for lack of a better term) and therefore map to a controller much better. With other sports like Hockey, Basketball and Soccer you tend to lose alot of the creativity in translation (see: every NHL game ever made) and the AI tends to really limit what you can do. But in Football the positions are so specialized that you don't need to worry about the individual AI.

I would have to say that hockey just jumped onto the top of the list because of NHL 08 which is the best hockey game I have ever played easy! Football is a solid second followed closely by basketball. I will say Skate is an amazing game so if you consider skateboarding to be more of a sport then that game could be right on top next to hockey.

have you played nhl 08 yet? that game is very realistic, you can actaully see strategies on ice, say you pick triangle for you offense of attack, you can actually the the players go in a triange, and cycle the puck. Plus they incorperated crossovers this year. Al is really good also.

But compared to real hockey it pales in comparison.

Soccer is my fav to play - Pro Evolution Soccer Series-

But I reckon golf works the best- Especially if you use the moving mouse thing for your swing like in Tiger Woods.

Madden seems to recreate American Footy well also.
