At this point in spring training I would say the BoSox. Schilling, Becket, Matsuzaka, Papelbon, Wakefield, looks like a good line and they're pitching phenomenol so far, of course its still the pre-season but thats my pick. schoolisnotkoolas a Yankees fan I hate to say it, but I agree
Tiger has the best rotation. period.....they proved it last year pitching the lowest ERA. A rotation that inlcudes Kenny Rogers, Jerermy Bonderman, Justin Verlander, Nate Robertson, Mike Maroth.

Beckett was awful in the Americal league last year leading MLB in HRs given up per 9 innings, Matsuzaka is unproven and a questionmark (Irabu was highly touted as well), and Papelbon is very good as a closer but was shaky towards the end of the year in big spots. I would say the Yankees easily have the best rotation.

I dont know, i think the Detroit Tigers have the best potential starting rotation. We have Verlander who should win 20 this year, Rogers also coudl take 20, Robertson struck out 5 in todays game, Bonderman one of the best young arms in the game and maroth who was 5-2 before getting hurt last year.zeldafan00013

You pointed out Rivera looks like hes in he Bullpen so i named the bullpen pitchers.
i agree that it's the sox NOW, but i really believe not having a left hander will eventually hurt them.sixringz1Well they do have Jon Lester waiting for the call, he has been told to take it easy since coming off of cancer treatment but he will be called up during the season. I would expect pretty good things from him.
this is basically the "Agree that you think your favorite team has the best starting rotation thread"XxMa5icarxXYes and no. If you are the Yankees and love your team then you will try very hard to see the good in your teams rotation and say yours is the best but deep down in your heart you know the BoSox are much much superior in that department. Its fact. I know your a bit ticked off that everyone is mentioning the Red Sox rotation because it is the only mlb team that significantly upgraded their starting pitching. And it was made very public mainly because of the D-Mat hype, which is well deserved. I mean we all know that pettite is back and you guys picked up some no name lefty who barely throws 90 mph but thats no difference maker and you know that, as do we all. Its just the truth.

D-Mats is said to be good in Japan. Igawa had a 2 Era in Japan. So im still lost on how the Sox rotation is the best in the league. Papelbon was a good closer but no one knows how he is gonna do as a starter because he did suck ass at it when he was one. Im not even saying the Yankees have the best rotation either id go with Detroit.
I was going to say the same thing but then read your post.          for me the dodgers rotation is pretty strong. they even have xtra arms because pitchers always get hurt.

Absolutely, Wang won 19 games last year, led the AL with ground ball outs, and was the second runner up to the Cy Young award. Mussina had the same record as Schilling with a half a run lower ERA, while giving up 10 less HRs, and he's the Yanks 3rd starter. Speaking of homers Mr.Beckett led MLB with a staggering 36 given up, while pitching to a lofty 5.01 ERA. Wakefield was 5 games under .500. And Dice-K was Dice-Y getting smacked around by the lowly Orioles bench players in his last start, so the jury is still out on him. Papelbon will be closing if Theo knows what's good for him, leaving a very suspect Lester or J.Pin to fill up the rest of this supposedly stellar rotation.

You should be a sports analyst. You just made the Sox rotation seem so weak compared to how it looks on paper which is the truth. Don't get me wrong I want the Sox rotation to be as good as people think it might be but I have my doubts, can Papelbon pitch 200 innings when he barely pitched over 70 last season, can Beckett have an era lower then 5 when he is clearly just a thrower, can Schilling win another 15 games, can Wakefield return to being Wakefield with that rib problem, who is going to close games, can D-Mat pitch in the big leagues consistently, the list goes on and on.
if mike hampton is healthy i think it would be the braves. ss5rmp
I would agree, but Hampton got hurt the other day and will be out for atleast another month or two. So with that in mind, we really only have Smoltz to rely on. Hudson has not yet pitched like he did in Oakland several years ago and James is going into his second year. Davies can be really good, but then he can be really bad (horrible). I think Redman was an "ok" pickup, but I don't expect much from him.
All I know is our rotation is in better shape than our division foe, the Mets. I know it's not saying much, but still.

We still don't know what the cubs are capable of if Prior and Wood staty healthy for a year. And it now seems that Zambrano is better than either one. 20 wins each, while not likely, is not impossibleCamble
