I agree with what has been said here. Go with EA. NHL 13 is a lot of fun and is the best one I've played, but the older (and cheaper) ones are a lot of fun too. Can't go wrong with any of them. If you don't care about rosters, get NHL 11 or 12 and just create players you want who are missing and trade guys around.
