I have to go with the Texas Rangers. Nolan Ryan and Mike Maddox are really turning things around as far as pitching goes. They just finished a 6-game road trip to New York and Boston and finished 3 and 3. They are one of few teams in the MLB ( 4 I believe) with a winning record athome and on the road. We all knew they could hit, and currently have the most home-runs in the MLB. They are 4.5 game ahead of the Angels and I expect they to increase this lead with their 10 game homestand coming up. I think they have a good chance to make a run in the playoffs.

Yanks should never be on a list like this unless they are in last place. But to answer the question it is obviously the rangers. They do play in a weak division, with Anaheim as their only competition (and their pitching staff hasn't been 100% all yr), but none the less they are in first place. It's not their fault the division is weak. I like what they are doing w/ their pitching, and their biggest rbi man hasn't been healthy all year, and is currently on the DL as we speak. Personally i'm sick of seeing Anaheim in the playoffs every year. They win 100 games in the reg season than proceed to get waxed on a yearly basis by Boston in October. I hope Texas can keep it up

Considering the Yankees were arguably the favorite to win the World Series before the season started...how in the world are they on this list? :? But out of the teams listed, it's definitely the Rangers. I don't see how the Brewers would be a surprise since they did this same thing last year, and the Tigers are the best team in a bad division...not that impressive.

Yanks shouldn't be on that list. Biggest surprise: Rangers.

Rangers. I'm scratching my head at the poll, why are the Yankees on there? :? Nobody thought they would flop or lose the division. They've been the favorites since landing Sabathia, Burnett and Teixeira.

Definately the Rangers - Angels were suppose to dominate this division. Young talent on the rangers preforming well. Brewers nice story right now especially after losing CC and Sheets in the off season. Honorable mention - Toronto and St Louis

The Rangers, obviously. My Giants are doing better than expected, too. Only 1 game behind Wild Card spot!

I have to go with the Brewers so far. They lost their top two pitchers last year in C.C. Sabathia and Ben Sheets, yet they're winning. Thanks to having one of the best bullpens in the league. So it's a surprise seeing them where they're at.

True, the Cubs and Cards were probably the favorites in that division.

I'd agree with the Brewers. I think most expected them to be 3rd or even 4th (I know at least a couple of writers had the Reds as their dark-horse pick for the season) in their division, and Texas has had the benefit of a weak division and a maligned Angel's team. And I have to say I'm surprised my Jays have remained competitive in the AL East, especially considering the revolving door known as our 2-5 starters and how poorly Wells and Rios are swinging the bat.

Have to say the Brewers.

Without CC and Sheets, thought they would be in 3rd place, but thanks to the Cubs starting off average Brew Crew is taking advantage.
