Before you disregard this thread and say SSX, Shawn White Snowboarding or Amped Series please take some time to read this, hopefully someone who can actually give me some insight or pass this along to people who can maybe shed some light on this topic for the gaming community. I understand you make the SSX Series which no doubt is a great, fun, entertaining game, but the Arcade/Tony Hawk like style is old and not realistic enough to hold many end users attention. Gamers who like the Skate series would LOVE an EA/Black Box Snowboarding game. Please note for sales reasons snowboarding itself is more commercialized and media friendly than skateboarding is without a doubt which I explain below. I have some questions about why EA/Black Box the creators of the Skate Series cant use the same engine from Skate 3 to make an EA Shred or Snowboarding, not necessarily the platform of the online community interface and team concept. I know game developers work really hard to make these games but using the already amazing SKATE engine would be a huge shortcut for them to start and build off of, honestly you take out the board flip tricks and add the physics levels of the snowboards different sizes, flex/stiffness and hopefully different brands themselves, then tweaking the engine to incorporate the snow effect/factor (powder, packed powder, groomed, hard pack snow etc.). Yes making the environments would be a lot of work but that is also an upside for not only the companies to have projects but for the employees to get as creative as possible which a sport like snowboarding is amazingly creative. Honestly 2 or 3 resorts would suffice for some free riding then mostly park features everywhere, using the session marker, maybe have a snowmobile, or a map to teleport you quickly to where you want to ride. The real fun would be allowing the end users to have a few different create a park layouts for instance a decently long trail with some steeper parts for speed and they could input the features (rails, boxes, barrels, jumps etc as they like. Or they could have a section called "Street" where they give you 5 or 10 street locations and features (kinked hand rails, down rails, ledges, wall rides and gaps and those could possibly be modified by the end users themselves as well. Third you could do a "Big Air" creator where the user can make a big air jump, step up big air, or even a big air to hip. I think a game like this could have a lot of potential not only for the end users of the game but also for Corporate as well as we know that revenue is the final goal of these games they create. Its already known that snowboarding is more commercialized and media friendly due to it being an Olympic sport and not to mention with Shaun Whites popularity in snowboarding it would only help (I know Shaun White Snowboarding is released but that itself would help EA's sales in general, especially since that game was sub-par at best). So from that alone it would outsell the Skate series maybe even combined. I guarantee it. There are a lot of fans that would like a realistic snowboarding game just like the Skate Series. Why do we always get the same answer to this which is always "Have you tried SSX, Shaun White Snowboarding and Amped 1,2, and 3" (May I add Amped 2 was the most LEGIT snowboarding game to date but still a bit on the glitchy side.) Please respond to this as I would love to get some info on this and who knows maybe a following and people with more ideas to make EA/Black Box at least attempt to think about considering it . I purchase a lot of your games and wouldn't mind seeing EA/Black Box consider this opinion and idea. Just think how impressive would it be to make a game with the same graphics and engine of Skate 3. Thanks hopefully I get some followers.

I think that is a great idea! I love the Skate series and I love snowboarding games so it would be a great way for EA and Black Box to switch it up a bit. I also think the game would be quite good since Black Box did such a good job right out of the gate with Skate. I still have Amped 2 because it's such a good snowboarding game and I would love to see a snowboarding game similar to that come out and Black Box and their Skate engine would seem like a great combo to take that on.

Yeah. I also didnt realize that Black Box is now EA Canada. Still though, they obviously have the rights to the platform and engine. The only thing that sucks is that EA Games is too big of a company to care about us. Its all about the dime in thier pocket not about what people want so who knows. I do want to write a formal letter to them and just get an answer as to why this isnt something theyve taken on, because it would make more money for them than Skate did.

Yeah Amped 3 was terrible. Amped 2 is the only reason I still have the original XBOX so that on those days where im craving a legit Snowboarding game I at least have something!

Have you played Stoked? If you enjoy Amped 2, then you'll probably like Stoked. It's a very fun snowboarding game.

Yeah I said the sport in general, not the games. The games have always been more popular because look at the work and marketing put into Tony Hawk and Skate and they have always just been better. Period you know? Its unfortunate.

Yes Ive beat it. But what people are missing my point. Stoked was all about Big Air back country booters. Which dont get me wrong I love. But it only went so far. I want all park features because the game would never get old like Skate with Create a park. I could go forever! :D

EA Canada is making the next SSX game, and they've said Trials HD has been an influence in making it.

Snowboarding is hugely different from skating. It's a lot harder to carve on snow than it is to turn on a skate deck. Plus you have to factor in different snow conditions and reverse/traditional cambered boards. On a snowboard, the hardest part is riding down the hill, not doing tricks and olleying like on a skate board. I really don't see how you could make a game like Skate for snowboarding. It would either be too easy or frustratingly difficult.

Well you must not snowboard if you think just riding is the hardest part but still the ollie and nollie would be easy to do with the stick. Also flicking left and right like on skate would throw your legs around to get that late whip on spins or 270s and 450s on and off features. I dont know I feel like if they just made a PARK aimed realistic snowboarding game it could be endless hours of fun especially being able to create a park or run. Its just a shame that some gamers are into some wierd and unrealistic genres more. Which dont get me wrong I like some of them but I also like my realistic simulators esp being a snowboarder it would be nice.
