I'm sick of people thinking that he is, since it makes no sense to play in New York.

Cleveland is the third best team in the league as of right now. There's tons of talent in Cleveland, no matter what people say of LeBron being the only good player on the Cavaliers (Ilgauskas, Szczerbiak, West, Wallace and so on). And even if LeBron plays in New York or where ever Cleveland is still a playoff team no matter what. But why would he go to New York anyways? The Knicks suck. Why leave a good Cleveland team that is most likely to win a championship this year or next?

People bring up this crap about how he'll be a world wide star....he already is. So I don't what that is all about. Also one last point he's basically the best Cav...ever so people in Cleveland have more pride (or whatever) of having him play for there team then people in New York.

makes more sense than you think

knicks will have so much money to spend that they could sign lebron and another big name, this will instantly make them contenders and making cavs another crappy team in the east

on top of that lebron has some completely random obsession with new york

with all that said i still think lebron will end up with the cavs (i hope)

I'll be pisted if LeBron leaves Cleveland for money over the game. Also Cleveland is good without LeBron like I said in the first post.

As for the obsession with New York...it's a cool place. Is it so wrong to like such a interesting city???

He wants to be a "global icon", but with due respect, you can't become a global icon in Cleveland -> NY or LA. Anyway, I don't think that LeBron will leave the Cavs in 2010. Great players don't change teams in their prime, but you never know.

nirvana563

No, followed by no

New York is a global city. Madison Square Garden is one of the arenas known worldwide. That would be his home.

Is Cleveland's named after Drew Carey?

The idea that Cleveland can match New York in any possible way is blasphemy

LeBron want's to be a billionaire, he wants to be an NBA icon, and he wants a global empire.

You get all that IN New York, you just get missed chances and a lifetime of regret in Cleveland.

not only does Lebron love NY, he's pretty much best friends with jay-z, he wants to be a superstar celebrity/sports billionaire, knicks can offer him a lot of money, and the knicks are doing well so far. Cleveland is #3 because of lebron, and the cavs most likely won't be a playoff team w/out him. He could pretty much take any team to the playoffs and the knicks are no different...... So there's plently of reason for him going there. Though nothing is certain yet and if the cavs do get close to a championship, expect lebron to stay

Actually the cavs are positioned to give him the most money. 6 years at 133 million. That being said, he may love new york, but his heart is to his home town, and right now the cavs are in a position to win a championship. They are k illing Ok city, so it looks liek a 12-3 start. Paced to win 69 games. We'll see though.

PS: I hate gamespots new setup, it's so damn slow and inefficent!!

Says who? If they win a championship, combined with his continued endorsement deals, his success in the olympics, and continued efforts branched in other businesses, he can easily become a global icon.

A better question is, why would he stay in Cleveland? Ohio blows and the Cavs aren't winning jack, ever. NY>>>>Cleveland.

Actually he would earn more salary-wise if he stays in Cleveland. Nike would pay him more if he moves to New York, I guess, but this isn't only about money. Becoming a global icon is easier when you are in a town like NY where you are close to all the companies you'd like to work with

It is an obvious move, but I hope he stays in Cleveland. Great players have to start and end their career in the same town. :)

Cleveland can offer the most money out of any team so Lebron wouldnt leave because of more money elsewere. Anyways two years from now Wallace and Z are gonna get older and more likley to be scrubs. The rest of the team would not even be able to carry this team to the playoffs w/o Lebron. Knicks may also not even get Lebron if they continue to suck at drafting players. The team they have now still wont be good. They wont even have a real pg by then and there Center is a Darko Milicic(sp). I hope he goes to the Nets obviously cuz im a Nets fan but if he doesnt I can still hope that Wade and Bosh come to this team

I would LOVE to see him play for the Knicks and i'm not even a knicks fan. But as a bball fan i would love to see him play in D'antoni's system. They guy already is a 30, 7, and 7 guy on a team that plays slow grind it out defensive basketball. You put him in an uptempo open court type system his ability would be showcased beyond belief. I personally think he's the best player in the world as is right now (w/ kobe right behind him. Just my opinion i know all the kobe lovers will jump down my throat fot that. lol). But in that system his numbers would be astronomical. I honestly believe the guy would average a triple double for the season with EASE. Now i don't know if he will win any championships or anything but from a pure entertainment standpoint, i can't think of another person in the HISTORY of basketball, that would be able to get the most out of a style of play like that

One thing i don't agree with though is MSG, i think it's a dump and they need to replace it like the Lakers did with the forum.

Because of the obvious financial and fame reasons.

I'd be pissed if he chose the Knicks over the Cavs. I know Cleveland is not NY, LA or Chicago, but that makes the challenge much more interesting, to put a team on you shoulders and bring it from the bottoms of the rankings to the NBA championship. Much more glorious than leaving it to make a few more millions per season.

And I'd choose LA over NY, although LA does not need LeBron James at the moment, they're a championship team already.

But if someone asked me : for which team would you rather play, Lakers or Knicks? Lakers without a single hesitation. (never liked the Knicks anyway)

Yeah Cavs may offer him more money but you can't forget that he gets a HUGE sponsorship deal from Nike if he goes to NY.

No he doesn't ESPN acutally went into detail about this, that offer expired forever ago. You realise he;s going to make more endorsement money then Payton Manning, Derek Jeter, and A. Rod combined! He's been on the cover of SI, Vogue, Fortune, and Time. He's also been the host of SNL! Lebron doesn't need New York, and cleveland is WAY more talented then NY, and are in position to pick up another good player next year even after they resign lebron.

True. :)

No one will ever be the Jordan of our era. We should just stop comparing people to him.

LeBron is a 30-7-7 guy and doesn't get enough respect from most people, because he isn't Jordan...so what? Jordan averaged 30 - 6 - 5 for his career, but it's not about stats... Jordan did what LeBron is doing now: he makes other NBA players look like they don't belong on the same court with him. He is just a step ahead of the game.

Regarding the clutch shots: Jordan missed pretty many himself, but people love to forget about that. Go to www.basketball-reference.com and check it out yourself if you don't believe me.

i wasn't talking about accomplishments, i was talking about RIGHT NOW. I think he has elevated his game this year by not shooting as many 3's and taking it to the hole more often, and improving his free throws. The guys physical abilities are out of this world and are unparalled by ANYONE EVER. That doesn't mean the guy is the best ever by any means, but when you combine his tools with that system his NUMBERS would be scary. I don't know if that will lead to championships, MVP's, etc. and i don't care. All i'm talking about is entertainment purposes only.

I personally think he's the best player in the world as is right now (w/ kobe right behind him. Just my opinion i know all the kobe lovers will jump down my throat fot that. lol). But in that system his numbers would be astronomical. I honestly believe the guy would average a triple double for the season with EASE. Now i don't know if he will win any championships or anything but from a pure entertainment standpoint, i can't think of another person in the HISTORY of basketball, that would be able to get the most out of a style of play like thatCloud_Insurance
You apparently don't know much about the history of basketball then. And Lebron isn't better than Kobe, his defense isn't nearly as good. And Kobe's defense isn't/wasn't close to Jordan's...

I know plenty about the history of basketball considering i'm sure i've been watching longer than most people on this board since i'm older than the majority of people. Jordan is the best player ever, Kobe is the best player of this gen, and lebron BY FAR has more physical tools than either of them. All i'm saying is i think his tools would be most showcased in a system like D'antoni's. THats it

Cleveland isn't full of talent at all. Remove Lebron from there and you have a below-average team. Lebron probably won't go to NY though. I think he'll stay in Cleveland because he's become the face of that franchise. I feel they'll bring in championsip calibur players in that 2010 free-agency that will entice him to stay.

Face it, he's going to NY and D-Wade is probably going with him. The Cavs were his hometown team and being drafted by them was a nice story. Well that was cute, but LeBron is a full grown man now and he wants to take his career to the next level. Everything in New York is magnified. Winning a ring in Cleveland only matters to Cleveland. But if you finally bring a championship to the Garden after all these years, that matters to all of sports. I'm certainly no Knicks fan, I'm just talking reality.

Money talks.

And it's the "mecca" for basketball.

Honestly, I doubt he goes anyway, it's just New Yorkers like Stephen A. Smith begging for this to happen.

who do you think can play up-tempo, fast break in the world past or present better than lebron?

The 80s Lakers, the Suns between 04 and 07 (pre-shaq), the 90s Bulls...

i'm talking about an individual player there buddy, not an entire team

I'm sick of people thinking that he is, since it makes no sense to play in New York.

Jaysonguy

No, followed by no

New York is a global city. Madison Square Garden is one of the arenas known worldwide. That would be his home.

Is Cleveland's named after Drew Carey?

The idea that Cleveland can match New York in any possible way is blasphemy

LeBron want's to be a billionaire, he wants to be an NBA icon, and he wants a global empire.

You get all that IN New York, you just get missed chances and a lifetime of regret in Cleveland.

First off, ever hear of Michael Jordan? He was a prett good player in his day. Do you know how many seasons he spent playing for the Knicks, Nets, or Lakers. None. And he was the one who defined the term global icon athlete. Second, the Cavs are the only team who can offer Lebron a max deal. That was a stipulation put in during the last collective bargaining agreement. The Knicks can offer him a ton of money, but they cant offer him as much as the Cavs. Third, the Cavs without Lebron are a playoff team. They have no shot at winning a title, but as long as the core of players they have along with Mike Brown stay, they are at least a .500 team. And .500 teams make the playoffs in the East. Lastly, if Lebron does leave, I expect Michael Redd to sign with the Cavs. Redd wanted to go to Cleveland a couple years ago, but the Cavs couldnt offer a max deal. I expect the Cavs to make a push for Redd even if Lebron stays. Lebron has stated repeatedly in the past that he would love to play with Redd.

I could care less if LeBron leaves or not(For the record, I think he'll probly leave unless CLE wins a title) but ESPN seriously needs to find something else to report on. They're talking non stop about something that is still TWO YEARS away:|

This could be another Kobe Drama scenerio where he pretends like he so interested in leaving but stays with his current team. Maybe if he waits long enough the Cav's will get some older Vets for real cheap cause they want to win a championship before they retire. Kind of like everyone going to LA a couple years ago or the Spurs keep getting all the old role players for cheap.
