http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7595246/surgery-greg-oden-portland-trail-blazers-turned-third-microfracture

Rick Dipietro is commonly referred to as the "Man Made of Glass", but with Greg Oden's knee problems it looks like we have a new contestant in the glass man category. Honestly I'm surprised that Portland has held on to him as long as they have. I can't see any team giving him a contract next season when he becomes a restricted free agent. Does he have any chance to make an entire NBA season or is it time to hang em up?

Indeed. This will sideline him for most of next season. He's finished.

No. I am surprised that the Blazers even signed him to a qualifying offer. They gave him $8.9m. Wow. I think the title will always go to DiPietro. Oden has had some major injuries while RD seems to get hurt getting out of bed. And with his 15 year contract has no motivation to get back in the lineup. He could never live up to that ridiculous contract if healthy anyways. Portland should ship Oden to Phoenix, they seem to know how to rehab their players successfully.

Doubtful. I feel so bad for him because he's such a capable player when he's 100%. It sucks how rare it is. He'll probably retire soon.

I feel as bad as one can for a millionaire that did little to earn the pay... He seems to want to play quite badly. His body just will not cooperate. That is frustrating enough after a career (getting old); it must be many times worse at the start

I wouldn't quite rule him done, you still have to remember if that he's only 24. That being said I doubt he finishes a season, by the end of this season he'll have played what basically amounts to a single season (82 games) in a total of 5 seasons spent in the NBA.

This is all really unfortunate for the Blazers though, could you imagine if they had Brandon Roy, and Greg Oden playing at their full potential playing with Lamarcus Aldrige?

Should of drafted Kevin Durant. Trailblazers have had the worst bad luck with injuries. RIP Brandon Roy.

Colin Cowherd doesn't agree.

"Anybody who says Durant should be #1 isn't doing their homework or is just trying to be controversial"

Should of, but can't blame them for Greg being a bust. Nobody saw this coming.

I think he can come back. He won't ever play a full season tho. I still believe he can be a serviceable big man coming off the bench maybe? I feel bad for him but whatevs.

Not how I remember it. When a person can't bench more than a bunch of high schoolers can, that raises a bunch of red flags, especially for a lanky 6'10 SF.

Feel bad for the Blazers because four years ago they were thinking they had their three core all-stars locked in and ready to do what the Thunder are doing now.

If we're saying that a full season is about 70 games?

Yeah I could see that happening easy

So far he's healed completely from every single procedure, then you add in the fact that this latest operation was just supposed to be to clean out the knee and they decided to do another microfracture surgery that he'll heal completely from.

It's delaying things for sure but so far he's not been laid up by any surgery with lasting effects

he should just follow Brandon Roy's footsteps.
