It can go either way... I hate the Red Sox, so I'll be pulling for the Rockies.-Halftime-
Thank u for your template.
Rockies played in a WEAK playoffs. Why is everyone going for the Rockies when they beat a bad Cubs team and an overrated Arizona team which can't hit and pitch beside the bullpen and Webb.dkhwWell the Sox had a pretty easy first round. The Angels just pretty much rolled over for them. Also, the Indians aren't proven, and when the Sox decided to finally start playing, it was obvious that the Indians couldn't keep up. If the Sox were as good as everyone thought then they would have swept both series, too.

Why is everyone going for the Rockies when they beat a bad Cubs team and an overrated Arizona team which can't hit and pitch beside the bullpen and Webb.dkhwHaha, dude they didn't play the Cubs you fool, they played the Phillies who actually have an offense. They played the team with an MVP canidate on it and another team with a CY Young canidate and destroyed them both. Either way, if it was weak then they did what they should have, swept. You're opinion is so biased it's ridiculous. The Rockies have the best pitching in baseball since the All-Star break and the best pitching in the playoffs. Not only that, but they have the best fielding percentage in baseball. They are the hottest team in baseball as well, why wouldn't people pick them? What's not to like about them either? They've never been here before and they are a fun team to watch, that's why most people are rooting for them. You said it yourself you'd root for them if the Indians were in the WS.

They were hot. Lets see how the 9 day wait has effected them.
[QUOTE="shaunmc"]As a diehard Anyone But The Red Sox fan, I'm looking forward to the Rockies continuing to sweep through the playoffs.murlow12That pretty much sums it up. Only Sox fans think the Rockies are weak. The rest of the country is hoping for another sweep.
I didn't know the Red Sox were so unpopular.... c'mon, the rest of the country? The Red Sox aren't THAT unpopular now.
Anyway, my pick is the Sox in seven, it'll be a series that'll go back and forth, that's for sure.

The Red Sox are America's Baseball team now. Red Sox Nation is more widespread then any other Team in any other sport. It's Basically a Home Game no matter where we play.

Dont think so. Never seen any red sox fans out here in the midwest(wisconsin and illinois area). Think the Cubs are more widespread than the red sox especially with WGN being on many cable networks.

This Article is the Article that was the Front Page story in USA Today. The Front Page Headline was "Boston Red Sox America's Team" or something of that sort I forget.
Quote from the Article:
"These days, the Red Sox are learning that it's not always easy being the biggest attraction in baseball. For much of this decade, that honor - and all the hype and scrutiny it brings - has gone to their archrival, the New York Yankees. But in two of the three seasons since the Red Sox ended an 86-year drought and won the World Series in 2004, the fan base known as Red Sox Nation has grown into its name: No one, including the hallowed Yankees, plays to bigger crowds on the road."
You can say they don't have the largest Fan Base but it's obvious when we travel. we almost outnumber our opponents fans at most games.

Been to Red Sox vs White Sox games and I dont see that. Red Sox are the team to jump on the wagon right now. It changes fast. Wouldnt be surprised if the Rockies win the series, that USA today has a headline "Rockies Americans Team".
These bandwagon fans and the media are fickle that way.

It has nothing to do with the Sox being unpopular. It's just that the Rockies are a great story, and America loves an underdog. I don't hate the Sox, but they just won it. It's Colorado's turn. You can say they don't have the largest Fan Base but it's obvious when we travel. we almost outnumber our opponents fans at most games.Just_Osmo
I agree that the Sox have the largest fanbase on the road, but ONLY since they won the WS. Before that the so-called "Red Sox Nation" was in hiding. It's not just Boston; every team gets an incredible boost from the fans when they win a championship. As for the fact that Sox fans travel, all that says is that rich white people that can afford to travel live in Boston. My fellow Dodger fans are mostly hispanic and typically can't afford to travel like that. We just root for our teams at home instead of annoying the hell out of the home fans.

So now Red Sox Nation is full of rich white people and the Dodgers are poor Hispanics? Making it a Race War now are we? Thats ridiculous. Race has nothing to do with it.

Look at the demographics. Boston is primarily an upper-class white area. Garnett didn't want to go to Boston for just that reason. And, yes, LA fans are primarily lower-middle class minorities. No race war, just facts.Boston Demographics
LA Demographics
14.44% of Bostonians are Hispanic
46.53% of Angelians are Hispanic

Are you saying Hispanics are naturally poor compared to Whites?

Yeah, my bad, it was the Phillies, but they were just a decent team with a good offense that barly made the playoffs. Yeah, I guess it's people's nature to go with the underdog.
[QUOTE="manningbowl135"]Rockies went 21 out of 22. If they didn't lose all the momentum in that layoff, I predict they stay unbeaten until next season.Just_Osmo
Momentium is only as good as your next starting pitcher. We willsee how they react to Beckett and the Sox Lineup.
Alternatively, momentum is only as good as your vastly inferior leaugue. Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for the Rockies, but the Red Sox have played great all year long in the AL, but the Rockies have only surged late in the year in the NL.
I knew somebody would misread those stats. Look again. It includes hispanics with whites in the stat you're quoting. Otherwise it adds up to far more than 100%. I figured those stats would be too advanced for this forum.Off your Demographs:
46.93% Whites in LA
54.48% Whites in Boston
Seems we have almost the same ammount of whites. Not to mentiont he fact that LA has 1734036 Whites compares to Bostons 320944.

I have decent amount of relatives in Boston and I have visited that city numerous times, but I don't understand how you can just assume every white people in Boston are rich enough to afford to go to these away games. Then, why don't we see a similiar pattern with the Patriots. Isn't this too much generalization? Do you have the statistics of how many rich people or even capita income of these two cities?

The Rockies have a 2.08 ERA since September. I think the better question is how will the Sox lineup react to the Rockies pitching.
Rockies, in Coors field with a 2.08 ERA. Unbelievable.

A 2.08 ERA on the national league. It's like JV(NL) Vs. Varsety(AL)

Right, just like last year when the JV beat the Varsity in the WS. Let's just let the teams play it out.To win a world series, you don't have to be the best team in the league. Just lucky enough. Cardinals were a far cry from one of the best teams, but luck was on their side.
