I have always wondered what would make someone change their team, I personally do not see myself ever changing my favorite team for any reason. So have you/what would make you change your team?

No. I am staying a Raiders and Lakers fan forever. Even if an NFL team comes to LA I will never back it, nor would I see it as a true LA team. I don't need a second, I don't care about any other team.DarkOfKnightEven the Chargers who are originally from here? Unlike a team that is originally from - and spent most of their years in - Oakland.
Not a chance. Seahawks are my team, I can't think of anything that could change that.monkeytoes61
What if the NFL pulls a Supersonics on them?

Honestly I think monkeytoes would just ape **** on everything.[QUOTE="monkeytoes61"]Not a chance. Seahawks are my team, I can't think of anything that could change that.Bloodaxe726

Well, then they won't be the Seahawks anymore (Supersonics Thunder). And they wouldn't, Seattle is like one of six teams in the western part of the country. Disregarding bandwagoners, the Seahawks represent an entire region of the US, considering the closest team is Denver(?).[QUOTE="Bloodaxe726"]

Honestly I think monkeytoes would just ape **** on everything. Haha, well, being a Seattle sports fan is tough. That would probably send me over the edge.Nope I can't imagine myself rooting for anyone but the Redskins, Capitals, Wizards and the Terps. Probably baseball since the Nationals are still relatively new but I'm not a big baseball fan.
Unless something happens to a team similar to what happened with the Baltimore Colts, Seattle Supersonics and the Cleveland Browns then yeah.

I am sure San Francisco and Oakland maybe closer.I've been a Leafs fan as far back as I can remember, I don't think I am going to switch allegiances now. I was only glad Boston won the Cup because Tomas Kaberle was finally able to lift it over his head.
That being said, I can always appreciate a good hockey game, I try to watch as many as I can.
Nope. I've grown up watching the Leafs and was born the same year as the Jays first WS, so I also grew up watching them. No amount of losing will change that...and Toronto teams have had a lot of that.
I'll watch any hockey or ball game any time though.
If Pittsburgh ever gets an NBA franchise the Rockets would no longer be my favorite.
The Steelers and Penguins probably wont leave, so I don't have to worry about that.
And i'm dissapointed in Pitt leaving the Big East, but I'll stick by them (hell, I was at the game last night).
Never, I'll be a Sharks fan until the day I die. I can understand why people changed allegiances before the internet and sports packages were widely available though. If you moved away from your team back then, it must have been difficult to continue to follow the team. You could read boxscores, but that's obviously not the same, and you wouldn't be able to listen to their games on the radio or watch them on tv very often.
.....Basketball, I think I can. Basketball is super star driven. A few of my friends are HUGE LBJ fans, so whatever team he is on they root for. There just isn't a NBA player I love more than my Rockets. MELO is my fav. player now that Yao has retired, but it's not close.No_Hablo_Ingles
Same for me (as with your friends). I follow and root for the player first, team 2nd. That's the way it's always been with me (back to pre-teen years) in any sport, but especially basketball.
I would never change my team for any sport. Also cheering for your team during the rough patches makes success so much more enjoyable to watch/be a part of. Rivalries aren't the same until you've experienced them first hand over the years with other fans.
I know a friend who was a 'Packer's fan' and then before the Super Bowl he switched to the Steelers... :| . What did that accomplish? Imo just stick to your team.

I guess your friend lost on that one.
The only thing I can think of is if my favorite team moved to a different city and changed their name... like the Seattle Supersonics turning into the Oklahoma City Thunder. Although that would mean becoming a fan of no team rather than changing teams.
Unless the team I like does something extremely drastic that I oppose, I wouldn't switch teams. If my team is bad for a long time, I may start liking other teams more than I do right now, but they still wouldn't replace "my team."
