Yankees.
And btw, This Red Sox nation BS has to stop.
I've been around the country, and this is Yankee country.
Idk I hear a lot of people saying that the Yankees have a bigger fanbase.xtn702
Used to. Not anymore. USA did a big thing on it last year. They called the Red Sox America's Team.
You now also have to take into consideration thatthe Majority of Japan aare Red Sox fans.

Where are you getting that information from?? And for the love of god please update you signature to show that the patriots went 18-1. You wasted all of that time making it and your not going to man up and finish it because they lost?? I'm sure everyone else on this board is sick and tired of seeing that stupid question mark at the end of the play through.

What information? It was in USA today. Front Page last year. It was all about how Red Sox has become America's team. Do I need to scan the front page of the paper? I would have to look for it but its somewhere in my magazine/newpaper collection. i'm not saying that its a fact but i said that USA today had a front page article about how the Sox had become americas team.

lol.
someone is upset their teams fanbase has dwindled. You guys can honestly have your bandwagoneers back.
Not really. Theres a lot of displaced New Yorkers around the country. I've met a ton of New Yorkers in the Bay Area alone.
Plus a lot of their parents and grandparents moved around too and so their children have rooted for the yankees as well.
Lots of people are bandwagoners its true, but lets not kid ourselves. Just cause USA Today says it doesn't mean its true.
The Red Sox won 2 World Series and are enjoying an upswing of popularity, but lets not kid ourselves. Theres a great sports around the Bay with as much Yankee stuff as there is Athletics and Giants gear.
And just you wait. Pretty soon those same bandwagon fans will hate the Red Sox cause they "win too much." Its gonna come, if it hasn't already.

So USA Today and ESPN must be in cahoots. It's all a conspiracy. Red Sox Nation doesn't exsist because the yankees fans say so. Lawl.

Red Sox Nation new king of the road
Just_Osmo
Nowhere in that article did it say anything about japan being a "red sox nation". And as for the red sox having the highest road attendance in the majors is wrong because they don't take into account that fenway only holds about 39,000 people (the least in the mlb). And Yankee Stadium holds 58,000 people nearly 20,000 more people than Fenway Park, so in theory there can be 20,000 more Red Sox fans at Yankee Stadium than there can be Yankee fans at Fenway.

Currently the fan base is leanign to the Red Sox with the arrival of Dice-K and the japanesse trip besides that this has to do with yankees vs red sox and there are more japaneese red sox fans then yanks fans. Atleast thats what ive been hearing every once and awhile on ESPN and such. maybe im wrong but it doesnt change the fact that America has become a red sox country.

What the hell does yankee stadium being bigger have to do with the 70+ Other road games?
This has nothign to do with how many sox fans are at yankees stadium it has to do with the rest of the country.

The 70+ other road games all have bigger capacity than Fenway too I was just using Yankee Stadium as en example.

Yes I'm sure ESPN would have no reason to come up with reasons to focus on the Yankees and Red Sox ;)

I still dont understand what stadium capasity has to do with the red sox having more fans then other teams have at road games. it has nothing to do with fenways capasity.

So you just won our argument for us..... I dont see how that quote helped you... it says clear as day red sox pull 1,300 more then yankees draw....
I'm pretty sure that the Yankees have the largest fanbase. I've been seeing people sport Yankee gear for years, even here in the bay. You might see a guy wearing a Red Sox hat every now and then, but you will always see someone wearing a Yanks hat. The Red Sox might be more popular since they have won twice recently, but I doubt it will last. BTW I despise both teams. Renegade_Fury

lol ever travel accross the country? People are always wearing Yanks gear. The Red Sox are at their peak in the last 80 some years so of course their numbers will increase at games. At the end of the day though, the casual will always hover back to the Yanks just because his favorite rapper is wearing a hat in a video. When the Yanks win their division again you can bet those numbers will change just as quickly.

They're the Yanks. They'll always buy someone to dig them out of a hole. They might as well loot the A's again like the good old days...
Oh and by saying when doesn't mean it has to be 08. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if they did for the same reason listed above.

If they go and spend and trade away prospects next offseason they will be the biggest idiots ever since they didnt pull the trigger and get santana. there isnt anyone whos going to be a FA anytime soon who is even CLOSE to santana.

Oh haven't you heard? The A's always have young gun pitching for sale for at low, low prices. In fact, they'll trade them all away just for money instead of players!
The fact is the Yanks will get back on track eventually, and when they do (not if), "the universe will back to order." They have 26 championships so I think they know by now how to win. The Red Sox are just on a high, and their popularity will dwindle back to 2nd like usual if they don't win WS consistently for the next few decades. People with no allegiance gravitate towards winners, and the Yanks have been doing that far longer than the Red Sox so far.
Wow I can't believe u can't understand this Yankee Stadium has more seating than Fenway (thus the Sox can pick up a higher road attendance than the Yankees in their own series). Narrowing down the 1,300 road attendence gap. Whats so hard to understand??Cypress_290
Yankees and red sox only play each other around 18 (edited it, its 1 am andim tired) times during the regular season. That does not effect the average very much. Your acting liek they face each other 40 times a year.
Besides that this is about the rest of the country. you can remove those 6 games from the equation because we all know theer are lots of sox fans in new england and lots of NYY fans in NY. In which case that average will only get larger.

They played each other 18 times last year and are scheduled to play each other 18 times this year. That amount of games can sure as hell effect the average, especially if the gap is as small as 1,300 something USA Today did not take into account in thier terribly thought out article.
The Yankees! It's true that the Red Sox have gained a lot of fans in the past 5 years or so, but it is hard to take over the #1 spot from the best sports franchise in American history.
It's kind of like the Cowboys. Even though the Cowboys are yet to win a Superbowl in over a decade, they still have an immense amount of fans. The Patriots on the other hand have been winning...cheating, but still probably can't match the fanbase of the Cowboys. I could be wrong, but I think a lot of people dislike the Pats and not just because of recent events. Cowboy fans are everywhere. When a lot of pro athletes in other sports are asked who their favorite NFL team is, a lot of them say the Cowboys. I know they don't represent the general public, but I believe a lot of them are the same way. Point being just because the Red Sox have won a couple rings recently, doesn't make them the nation's team.
The Spurs are one of the greatest NBA franchises of recent times, and I gurantee you that they are not the nation's team. In fact many people can't stand them myself included, and I'm from Texas.

I knew that numebr was small lol I was lookign online for an exact number because i cant think its 1 am. Anyways this is a disscussion about road games around the country. why would you factor in games in NY and Boston which are 4-5 hours away from each other. You know Boston fans are going over to NY from Boston and NY fans are going to Boston. That has NOTHING to do with the arguemnt of who has a larger fan base around the country.
So you shoudl remove all games at Fenway and NY.
I don't mind the Yanks, always disliked the Red Sox.
I think the Yanks have a bigger fanbase but recently Red Sox popularity has swarmed with them winning championships.
