I just want to know what people's favorite sports are.

Mine is boxing. There is no better athletic test of a man's toughness. There is nobody to rely on in the ring and it's literally fight or get hurt. Being a boxer myself, I know first hand the kind of mental toughness and grit it takes. And how can you not appreciate a sport with a singular goal: Hit the opponent and don't get hit by him until he is physically unable to continue. When two boxers match fists, and more importantly, their minds, it's sport at the purest level.

So, what's yours?

Basketball. I love everything about it.(Except the referees) Basketball was the first sport I really liked when i was younger, and it was the sport i was always the best at. I remember watching the Lakers and just falling in love with the team. Been a fan ever since.

Basketball. I dont know really. Just used to watch MJ and the Bulls growing up and never paid much attention to other spots. I stopped watching for awhile and then got back into a few years ago.

Football. It's a true team sport and everybody has to do their jobs in order to make a play successful. Manning can do what he does because he has a great O-line that gives him all the time in the world.

IMO Hockey is the true team sport, everyone on the bench plays, in football the team with the good QB is going far you already know that. You can ride the pine to a SB ring.

Everybody has to bat in baseball. Sure you've got bench players, but there's no real rule that says you have to play them all in hockey either.

lol You got it ALL WRONG, you're blowing my mind. In hockey, a goalie can take over a game(like a pitcher in baseball) and win a game on his own. While for football, so many people has to get the job done at the same time on a play to succeed, let alone winning. For example, on a passing play, you need each of your O-lineman to pick up their rusher, then you need the WR to beat some possible bump coverage, to get open, run his route properly, to have the QB to read the coverage and then make a good throw.

While for hockey, like in basketball to a certain degree, 1 guy can take the puck and score a goal on his own.

And yes, football is my favorite sport, it combines a lot brutality, a lot strategy and a lot of teamwork.

To watch: American Football. Pro and college NFL. Games are more intense cause there are so few per season. No better team game where individual talent dominates the least IMO. To play: Basketball. It's just so easy to get a game going.

Well Ovechkin is supposed to be the greatest ever and he doesn't have a cup, where as in football the Vikes were a mediocre team then Brett Favre shows up and just like i suspected they should have made it to the SB, just with a QB switch. Either way i see hockey and baseball as much more team sports than football and basketball.

baseball is my favorite, i tend to play it in the future. Only sport in the world where you can fail 7/10 times and be considered a great hitter. Also has imo the hardest thing to do...square up and hit a 90 mph fastball. I just love every aspect of the game.

Really? Only Brett Favre had anything to do with that? Had nothing to do with the fact they have the second best running back duo in the league? Or a very good O-line, or one of the best defensive lines? Or how about the fact the only thing holding them back was a sub par qb? Yeah.. I'm sure it was ALLL brett favre, one of the most overrated QBs ever who did all that work. Football - Strategy unlike any other sport. Being only 16 games and pretty much every sunday makes it uniquely easy to follow and know when your team is playing. It's got hard hits, thinking, accuracy, surprises, well hell, it has everything. Hockey - great sport, I just don't find myself watching it much anymore Basketball - I've tried to become a fan, I really have, but all the ridiculous rules in BB have prevented me from it. I have the ball, I aim for and purposely hit this guy over, he gets a foul, sweet, wtf? stupid sport. I do watch the Celts during the playoffs when I cetch them, but thats it. Baseball - worst major sport, hands down, it's boring, no salary cap, games last way to long with nothing happening, season last wayyy to long. Who cares about tradition if the tradition is to be horrible?

This post makes my head hurt.

Where were the Capitals before they had Ovechkin? They were bad. With Ovechkin, they're a Stanley Cup contender (granted...he wasn't their only addition, but he is a huge part of the reason the Capitals are good).

Then you said the Vikings were mediocre without Brett Favre. In 2008, without Favre, they were 10-6 and made the playoffs. With Brett Favre, they were 12-4. It's not like they were 3-13, Favre shows up, and then they were 13-3. And if Brett Favre could single-handedly take a team to the playoffs, then why is it that a year earlier the Favre-led Jets didn't make it to the playoffs?

Baseball

  • No clock, which makes it the only major U.S. sport where no lead is insurmountable.
  • The perception of "I can do that". It's hard to get into a sport like basketball or football, where size can be just as important as skill. In baseball, little guys like Ichiro, Pedroia, and Lincecum can win MVPs and Cy Youngs.
  • History and consistency. While other sports make rule changes that completely alter the way the game is played, baseball today is virtually identical to baseball 50 years ago.
  • Baseball is the easiest sport to follow along play-by-play on the radio. Great for driving or playing in the background at work.
  • It's played every day; sometimes multiple times in the same day.

Yep, mediocre team, then one guy shows up and look where they were. You only enjoy that 16 game a year sport?

Because his arm was hurt the second half of the year, didn't you hear? ESPN talked about it for months. That same Jet team would be the Vikes of this year, we'd be saying "what a great D and O they had" and they probably would be in the SB with the Favre at the helm.
