It rocks! Checked my email this morning, a friend who works at Wal-Mart said they had it in. Only $14.99 and came with the Spirits Within (oh well, it's still a free movie). For whatever reason, they didn't tranlate the Japanese text at the beginning of the film, so you have to turn on the subtitles to read that, but after that, you should have no need for them! I'm very pleasantly surprised by the English acting, and can say I'm a bit disappointed in myself for not waiting for the English version. Still, after watching the film from beginning to end, I went back and watched some scenes twice and some thrice! The dubbing is fantastic, aside from some awkward lines. In many cases, you wouldn't think it was dubbed, although in very few, it's painfully obvious. I'm forgetting about my Japanese copy, now. Even Cid, who I hated in Kingdom Hearts 2 is good. Barret's probobly my favorite, though - much better than in Japanese! Everyone who's been griping and saying they want the Japanese version, you can switch it to the Japanese audio. I really don't see any reason to, though. Only thing that sucks is the recap of the game is Japanese, and you gotta turn on subtitles. Even that, though, is not really anything to complain about, especially if you've played the game anyway. Well, is everyone else as happy as I am with the English version?
I just saw the movie today. It was AWESOME. I was very pleased with the amount of effort they did with making the characters sound good. I will admit though, a few characters here and there sounded a little awkward. Tifa's was a little weak to me. I really liked how they took the old music from the game, used it and upgraded it. This was my first time viewing(watched in japanese afertwords) and I found the way Sephiroth was added to be very nifty. Everything came together in my opinion. Fav. character appearance: Vincent.
Yeah I picked up a copy of the double pack of AC and Spirits Within, both are awesome. I loved the characters and the visual style was just breathtaking, my eyes are glazed after leaving them open for so long. Anyways I waited to watch the US version first, I picked up the japanese version over Ebay but now wish I didn't since the AC US dvd lets you play it in japanese. Oh well, I also picked my reserved AC copy at my local GameStop and got a bonus disc with cast in depth interviews and more for free. The movie is so beautiful I can't believe it, though I can see how a FFVII fan would have considerable trouble figuring out what's going on.
How and why the packed the DVD with the Spirits Within is beyond me. But to me, it is a superior film to Advent Children and I didn't own the DVD(only the UMD), so a plus for me. I cannot wait to watch both on the big screen and in gripping sound.
i totally forgot about it, i gotta go get it tomorrow, gotta see if the voice acting is as good as ppl say it is. but, nothing can take the place of the japanese version because im so used to them and they seem perfect for the character.

Awww Man! I wish I would have done that! I really want to see that b/c the standard special features don't have anything w/ the English cast. I'm going to have to hit Ebay up, now. Damn me...

I thought the same, too. I was so used to the Japanese actors, but surprisingly, seeing it in English is a lot more fun, and 90% of the VA is just as good. I've already forgotten about the Japanese audio tracks. Barret is SOOO much cooler in English! Geostigma's origins finally make sense to me now, too.
Ya I saw the spirit within deal. Exept you had to pre-order them. I didn't know at the time, and when I went to Walmart the deal wasn't going on. But I bought the movie anyway. It rocked hard to!

Ya the english script could have used a little work. In some of the parts it was kinda hard to understand what they were getting at. And if they just fixed a few f those script errors it would improve the movie a lot.
I got the English version form Wal-Mart too but it didn't come with Spirits Within. It also had the English translation in the very beginning when they were recapping the game. I wonder which version I got.
He's talking about the dvd, the umd is for $24 with the bonus dics and for $20 without it. The umd is way better and it starts in english, there are some japanese letters at the start, but there are also english. I say this movie is the best for those who played FFVII. They will understand it more.
