Well, as some of you know, I was thinking about importing Final Fantasy XII. Thanks to some of the people and their feedback, I've decided that it would be a train wreck in the end, especially with my luck with importing. Anyway, I've already got Kingdom Hearts II lined up, then Shadow Hearts: From The New World. Well, I'd like one more, and I just looked at Radiata Stories, and despite some of the reviews, it seems like an above average game for the most part. I don't take a lot off of American reviews, as they seem to be a little to cynical sometimes, so I look at Famitsu and Dengeki, the two most looked at Japanese reviewers. And they both seem to like Radiata stories very, very much.

But I do want feedback from all of you. So to those of you who have it, and preferably either gotten very far or beaten it (as those of you who have tend to have a better understanding of what the game as a whole is), what was it like? Should I expect a bombshell, or something close to Star Ocean: Til The End of Time and Suikoden? I'll be grateful for any help at all. But as I've seen some bashing on this game, I want to forewarn you that if there does happen to be any bashing, it won't be good.

Yeah I'm thinking about renting it, but sinc my birthday is coming up, I need some new RPGs to play, they've been lacking for about half a year now. So I need to know if this game is good or not, it's presentation is amazing, I love the artwork style and how they make all the towns and world look, but I've heard the gameplay is a little lacking, which, obviously, is very important in any game.

I have it but didn't get around to playing it yet thanks to a massive game backlog.  The little I played of it seemed pretty good.  It was developed by Tri-Ace, so the battle system is more similar to the Star Ocean series than your traditional RPG.  It's also a rather humorous game that doesn't take itself so seriously.  I got the game based off of recommendations of a few RPG fans I know on another forum.  Now all I need is more hours in the day...

Hm..thanks. I had forgotten it was developed by Tri-Ace..I think I'll be adding that to the list of RPGs to get.

Famitsu's reviews are horrible and awkward. It's clear that in this case, popularity =/= quality.

As for Radiata Stories, being a tri-Ace fan, I picked it up not long after it launched. I put it down eventually, not having beat it. It's fun, but not on the level of tri-Ace's previous works, and I haven't been motivated to finish it sense. I probably will go back and beat it in anticipation of the next tri-Ace game, and I do want to go through both branching storylines...

I have rented it and I was very dissapointed. The battle system was pretty bland but it does expand, battlewise its ok. What killed it for me was the nerve scrapeing, horrible sound system. The music made you sick, and the voice acting made you want to play with the sound off. I could not take it. I know its a tad picky but the gameplay wasnt even that great anyways. Its just my oppinion, try it yourself.

Alright... Care to explain why you think Famitsu is, as you put it, "popularity =/= quality"? From what I see, they are the most trusted magazine in Japan, and as for their reviews, 4 people reviewing one game and then making those 4 reviews one whole review seems pretty damn tough to me. And if you dare to use that "Companies pay them" rant, then I suppose I'll have to not respond, and simply walk away. The idea of a company paying a magazine to rate their game higher than others is simply absurd, and anyone who has the sand to think it is an ignorant fool.

I got it played it and thought it was pretty good, though I am stuck on some of the later bosses, mostly cause I forgot about an attack I could use but kept forgetting to use.

Well I would buy it, but you might want to rent it first, but then if you rent it you might not want to buy it, but you do go through 2 sides once you get so far so you will be playing it a bit longer.

I was so excited to get this game when I heard about it... My opinion after getting far into the game: It is absolute trash. The battle systerm is not nearly as good as it is made out to be. The story is not meant to take itself seriously, but it is so bad it is near unbearable to continue playing at some points. Bad RPG Cliches are in full force here. This is one of the few RPGs were after investing a whole lot of hours in, I could not force myself to beat it because I was miserable playing the game. Strictly my opinion, this game was one of the biggest let-downs I've ever purchased.

Yes, please, give some facts along with the trash talking if you're going to do it. I don't mind if you back it up with some hard cold facts and examples, but if you just bash it and leave, then that's not only ignorant, but just plain annoying. Some people tend to be doing that a lot lately...especially with Final Fantasy XII. Making assumptions that turn out to either be way off, or are just way to picky.
