I had a look at how the actual game played. It turned me off so damn fast it's not even funny. It was all gimmicky and flashy—too cartoony. V_V I don't think I will ever be able to get into the non-mainstream Square games.

Depends on one's individual taste, I like Cartoony/Anime inspired games, I hate it when they try to be too realistic.

Yup, that combat is pretty sweet, I have been playing it every chance i get.  The story might be a littl dull, but the gameplay more then picks up for it.  I have noticed the monsters are a bit hard, but that just means I need to level up more, and since the battle system is so good that means more fun. :D

I haven't played Grandia III but i feel the same about Grandia II, the story is kinda dull but the combat system is great.

I really need to pick up Grandia 2 someday, so I can see how good it was.

For the best all around game the original Grandia on the Saturn is amazing....Grandia II had a better battle system...ok story..but the skill and magic system owned......Grandia III has the best battle system (minor tweaks) but they took a step back in the magic and skill department....but the story is more enjoyable than the second....
