Does FFXI really count as part of the series?

If they do make another they need to change alotta things

#1 no number at the end just FF online

#2 Better help Desk My best friends account was hacked this week and they stole 50,000,000 gil in equips and gil.... and POL said "sorry I can't help you" WTF dude that guy who hacked him migh have his credit card account and all this other **** and they can't do **** if it was WoW it wouldn't have happened..

#3 get the econmy under control I quit cause the only way to make gil was buy it stupid chinese **** were boting all the camps and farming spots...

Thats about it.. The story is really good... Actually if you wanna waste 2 years of playingjust to get to the freakin story...

Alot of people aren't into online games liek I aint, so thats why I don't think it exactly fits in right.kingdom09

#2 Your friend shouldn't give out his login information or use 3rd party programs with FFXI.

#3 Inflation has gone down a LOT due to the banning of 700+ gilselling mules and now making it so you can only send out money in your outbox from one slot and no more than 1mil at a time.  But even so...with inflation things cost more...but you can sell other things for more.  It evens out.  And if you play it right, it can work in your favor.

To those complaining about the price: Most people who play FFXI don't really bother too much with other games.  I haven't bought a new game in...I don't know how long.  So that's only $12.95 (+1 for my mule) per month.  That's about one new game every four months.  Personally, I'm saving money with FFXI.  And it shouldn't be free.  If you want to play a watered down MMORPG go play GuildWars.

FFXI isn't for everyone.  Don't be mad if SE doesn't cater to your wants specifically.  You can go play what you want...I'm going to go play FFXI.  Later!

Very much so.  And the story just keeps on going too.  And to anyone who actually cares if this is FFXI or if FFXII should technically be FFXI...get over it.  I don't see why it should make a difference.

Nobody was askin if it was FFXI or FFXII, but we already know it should be FFXI, and yeah the story does keep going on it.

All I was saying is that is the only difference it would make.  If FFXI was just called something like Final Fantasy Online then FFXII would be FFXI, right?  I don't think anyone who sits down and finishes FFXII will say...it was good...I just wish it was called FFXI instead. :(

One -- They believe that if Final Fantasy XI hadnt been part of the "true" series (whatever that is) then they would have had a different Final Fantasy in its place... which ties in with my next point

Two -- Which would have allowed a lot more people to enjoy a new Final Fantasy title (an offline - single player Final Fantasy XI), because as it is there are (were) just too many people who cannot afford or are too young to be able to afford playing MMOs.

Final Fantasy XI is part of the series, there is nothing you can do about it and a name change wouldnt have made a difference. The fact is that the amount of work that went into this title was as big as any other "main series" Final Fantasy would have reseived and as such with its complex story arc and massive world it deserves to be a part the of "main series". Its of real importance to read AND understand someones post if your going to argue against it which you didnt. Also I never said that you have to play all of them to be a true fan, what I DID say, is that if you dont consider Final Fantasy XI part of the series, then you probably arent a real fan, which is silly of course, just like the assumption that Final Fantasy XI is not part of the the real series is.

i don't think it counts the game is a MMO and the creator probably just said hey lets a MMO with the characters that look like the peoplke in the other games. Vic_Vega1994

I don't think it was a part of the series either- I mean, I can't even play it 'cause it's online! They'd better not do it again! When I first heard about it I was really excited, but then I found out it was online and I was depressed for days...geez, I'm really sad-getting depressed over a game...were-woman
