I have just started DQVIII and I wondered if anyone else had played any of the earlier ones? Are they any good? Are you planning on buying DQIX when it comes out?

I'm trying to spend some time playing DWarrior7, which I was lucky enough to get because my local Blockbuster store was selling their PS1 games, so I got it pretty cheap. Still, I have to advance more on it. As soon as I finish Front Mission 4, I'll most likely go back to DW7.

As for DQIX, I think so. As long as it doesn't turn out like Children of Mana, I'm fine... lol

I owned the original Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy (see my icon :) ) I played them constantly and still do thanks to the power of Emulators. I have just gotten the chance to re-play the original Dragon Warrior and the original Final Fantasy from the NES days. To be honest I am glad they remained completely true to the series as far as the text based battle system goes. The game is actually very fun. Of course the graphics have picked up in the last 2 decades but the main character "Hero" in DQ8 not talking bugs the crap out of me (I know he doesn't talk because you can name him but look at Final Fantasy X you could name Tidus too but they wrote the script so perfectly that no character ever actually said "Tidus"!). For those of you who haven't played the original, I laughed my butt off when I found out that the noise DQ8 makes when you miss an enemy (that little blip noise) is the EXACT same noise as the original NES game from 1989. I bought the original Dragon Warrior in a box set with the original Final Fantasy (about 1991) from Toys R Us when I was 10 for my brand new NES system (hangs head in shame ... man I'm old :)

Played some of the first one-it's my brother's and he got it when Nintendo Power was giving the game away free with a subscription----the original is soooo freakin' boring...played some of 2 and 3 but not much but they seemed a LOT better. played a little of V and VI on fan translated roms but I cant stay entertained by roms very long for some reason I just enjoy playing on my consoles alot more...bought VII for about $30 a few years back-enjoyed what I played of it but got sidetracked by a different game-dont recall and ive played most of DQVIII but I got irritated at it lol *no ive never beaten a single one but I always enjoy what I play of them-funny heh*

I've played Dragon Warrior on the NES, pretty cool - especially considering that it was made so long ago.

I don't plan on getting DQIX. I am actually not too big of a fan of DQ.Â
