I dont particularly care for the idea of a main Final Fantasy game being on a Microsoft system. But it still doesnt change my decision to get a PS3 once FFXIII is released. The bonus of getting to play some of the other FF games I missed is still better for me personally than any of the games the xbox 360 might have.
As long as its multiplatform and the 360 doesnt get FF exclusives I have no problem with it.

Yeah that is a good way to look at . I am just worried that by them saying it is going mulitplat when before it was only on one system seems to degrade the quality of the game.

I was watching it live on G4 when they announced it...lets just say I was glad no one was around to hear the stuff that came out of my mouth  But then I thought about it and realized it wasnt as bad as long as its multiplatform and not exclusives to xbox360.
...Its just that the PS3 really needed the exclusive title to get a better foothold in the market.
That is true; there are still some great titles exclusive to PS3 that I would love to play but it made me breathe a sigh of relief when i heard this announcement, cause I really can't afford to fork out for a PS3 right now, and I was feeling awfully sad I would have to miss out on FFXIII. Now I don't have to! w00t!SymonDezyn
Yes. Money was the only real reason for me not getting MGS4 and PS3 this Summer; and now I need a new car. Square Enix was throwing us pitches, but I wasn't really paying attention. At GDC they came out and said that the Crystal Tools(White Engine) was fully compatible with the PC and Xbox 360. And even on the Wii the graphic engine supplied some support. Then they started talking about their Western expansion; right now they're looking for someone to mass advertise their products in North America. But still I think the game will be native to the PS3, so we'll see how the Xbox 360 version looks.
I'm angry and annoyed since FF13 no longer exclusive it means that there won't be any good games to get on PS3 because Microsoft keep takeing them away such as DMC 4, GTA 4 and Resi 5. The only PS3 game that still remains exclsive is Metal Gear Solid 4.
I am glad that FF VS 13 still remains on PS3.
Oh come'n everybody, when this comes out there will be a ps3 slim and will be like 299, ja. If i understand, they will finish it in japan first... then the localization (the time they will begin to work on the 360 port) and if they were paid to hold the ps3 version until the 360 is finished... and lets not begin with the european release...
Well this basically puts the final nail in the coffin for 360 vs PS3 in north america.
Honestly I didnt think I would see this happen with FFXIII, now my question is did MS throw a ton of money at SE, or is SE and sony having some closed door fueds right now.
Im happy for the non fanboy 360 fans, but I think this hurts the finished product of FFXIII. I dont care what company you are, you make a stronger game when you develop for one system plain and simple.
Should be intresting what the future brings for Sony and SE, because this is one blow sony couldnt afford.
Statements like this piss me off...as if the PS3 needs one game to survive. Are you forgetting about LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2 and Resistance 2? Those are some pretty damn big exclusivres right there - and they cannot go anywhere because they are all first and second partyWell this basically puts the final nail in the coffin for 360 vs PS3 in north america.

SE announced today at E3 that FFXIII will release for the X360 the same day as it releases for the PS3!!! Holy Crap! Great news for X360 owners like myself but I know it's gonna make a couple people kinda mad - LOL. Well take comfort - the Versus game is going to remain exclusive to PS3.SymonDezynYeah that is a worry. Riots in the streets all over the world lol. Not funny.
Either way it doesnt bother me. I have both consoles so... lol. But i prefer my PS3. So you can bet i'll be getting Final Fantasy XIII for the PS3. No debeate about that.
This news honestly surprised me. This will hurt the PS3, BADLY. With this news, I'm seriously lacking a reason to get a PS3 as the Xbox 360 is stealing all of my RPG's. To my count, 360 had 8 and the PS3 has 4. Note that I counted multiplatform titles on both of them.
You know what? I think Nintendo has been VERY clever during all this. It's letting Microsoft and Sony fight over the hardcore gamers while it rakes in the money and stays safe with the casual gamer market. Where then it'll take on the winner of 360 vs PS3.
What can save the PS3 now? Perhaps a FFVII - IX remakes on the system.
The PS3 owns in all aspects when it comes to the Xbox 360. It has so much more to give not including all the non RPG games being released. Even if Microsoft have been getting into the whole competitiveness against Sony, Sony, with the PS3 will do so much better in the long run. Not to mention the Xbox 360 is a total wreck and unreliable.

I was just thinking about that. They should have them all in one package like The Orang Box.

This belongs in SW, not here. As you can see in both the Final Fantasy Experience, and Square Enix Experience Union we have a lot of dedicated old school RPG addicts who surprisingly have a Xbox 360(considering that the too aren't suppose to exist together).

I never said this is going to kill the PS3, but in terms of system sales this is a MASSIVE blow. I dont own a 360, and unless someone gives me one for free, ill never own one. But I can look at the facts and realize that this a blow that Sony has very little chance to get over when we talk about sales of the system in north america. There are some Sony games I am really looking foward too, but its amazing how far Sony has fallen already from the complete dominance it had on the PS2.
Oh and FFXIII is being ported to the 360, and they are going to compress the audio and pre-render the cutscenes. In other words, if you have both systems, buy it for the PS3, plain and simple.

You're probably right. But thank goodness compression technology is much better then it was before. Mistwalker had to compress the CGI and audio for LO. Everything turned out just fine. :D
It should be very intresting to see how well the port turns out since the game was started on the more powerful system. Im sure the difference between the two is going to be small, but no doubt SE is going to have some hurdles along the way.
The biggest factor in the port is going to be how complete was it for the PS3 before they choose to bring it to 360, because its impossible to know on our side right now.

Ok, whats SW? Yeah i have noticed that. Especially when i was on alot 2 years ago. I dedicated my own time with RPG Unions. Especially this 1, FFE and my own. Bt i myself prefer alot of the old school RPGs than todays. Though i've been lacking in most of the newer 1s in the past 2 years.http://www.square-enix.co.jp/fabula/ff13/
Anyway, click on that link to watch the official trailer for FF13
SE is quite smart to also release FF13 on the 360. In fact, this game is still exclusive on the ps3, in Japan ONLY. So... i have no choice but stick to my original solution of getting both a 360 and a ps3 (priority first) in the end...
Ok, so let's organize things a little here.
PS3 still gets FF13 exclusively in Japan. So, that means, if FF13 is not going to have a multi-language/worldwide release, the first version of FF13 will still be exclusive for the PS3. In a sense, FF13 will only be released in English for the 360 and ps3, probably at a later date? It'll have to be a later date, considering the fact that it's not like MGS, where Blu-Ray is region free and DVD-porting may take a little longer than usual.
SE is very smart, it does it so that it doesn't also anger its Sony counterpart, and also gets to earn money from the Western continents. Sony will still get to have the exclusive attention, before the NA release of FF13 on the 360. And we all know how many crazy fans would import a Final fantasy game. Die-hard gamers, fans, will still import the game, and during when it's still exclusive to the ps3.
It's a win-win situation for SE. And in doing so, SE still remain friendly with its brother Sony and Western-money-maker Microsoft. :)
im still getting it on PS3---since Microsoft is terrible at packaging multidisk games.Cronaroth
They are, aren't they? I really hate that!!! I hope they smarten up cause it is so freakin simple to put an extra disc insert into a case, and it's not like they can't afford it - LOL.

Oh,really. Besides the technical aspects, can you tell me any other aspect in which PS3 owns 360? If you're talking about games,PS3 is in serious shortage of some good ones. They are missing a LOT of their third-party exclusives from last-gen,with GTA,DMC and now FF going multi. If it goes this way,Sony might become another Nintendo, with only first-party titles in their hand.
I just watched the E3 trailer and I'd just like to say one thing...
DRAGONS!!!!!!!!!!!

I just hope SE,don't just spend way too much time,on making the game's graphics all neat and shiny, and forget about the stakes, which are higher than ever. Since, many of the Western gamers might be trying out their first FF games,SE has to make FFXIII easily accessible to get involved into. Also,at the same time to please the fans,it has to innovate to higher standards gameplay wise and produce a GOOD traditional FF-story,not like the one in FFXII (which was good, but lacked the FF feel).

?It's online does everything the 360 does...and it's freeLet's be honest here: I really don't believe their supposed reasons.
The average FF fan was going to buy this game no matter what, even if that meant to get a summer job or something; at the end it wasn't only one game, it was FFXIII AND VSXIII. The only one really affected or benefitted was Sony. Seriously i don't think there will be many curious gamers (especially 360 gamers) that will get into the jrpg genre or FF series if they haven't already; until last week most of the 360 owners had been saying FF was a gay game with androgynous characters. The point is, that the difference this time will be that the fans will be splitted between x360 and ps3, i don't see a big growth of FF sales just because is on 360.
^ I couldnt agree more, the odds of FFXIII having a FFVII type impact is very very small. Going to both systems for this game isnt going to change the sales much for the best selling RPG of all time.
However SE has now entered the world of MMORPG, and while FFXI had some decent success in north america, it would have flopped had it not had the name FF attached to it imo. Putting FFXIII on 360 helps set the table for the new MMO they are currently working on. Because lets be honest folks, if SE main goal was creating a better market for the series, it wouldnt still be a PS3 exclusive in Japan.
Still means I have to get a summer job, I have neither system....Let's be honest here: I really don't believe their supposed reasons.

I've also heard it's pretty laggy from my friend who owns one.
but seriously, if people wouldn't buy a ps3 for ffxiii, the logical thing is people wouldn't care to buy another 360 for ffxiii... ffxiii is a JRPG. And JRPG fanbase is strongly built around the playstation consoles.
the only reason why people keep wanting ffxiii to be non-exclusive to the ps3 and at least be on the 360, is because there is a console war going on, and fanboys just want to sort of make sony 'depressed' over something trivial such as this. Sony was right about saying this wouldn't really affect msoft and sony in a large scale.
