Which Final Fantasy's gameplay do you enjoy the most?

For example, my favorite combat was in FFVII, mainly because of the ATB, sure the game was turn based, but it was also real-time in a sense. With this in mind, it always made me think just a little more because of the "pressure" ha.

My favorite limit system though was in X, because of the interactive overdrives (like Auron's Bushido Blade, etc).

And magic? well, I gotta say Materia from FFVII.The only thing bad about materia is having to spend a lot of time in the menu, organizing and equipping, etc. It was worth it though, because in the end I just loved selling my MASTER ALLs for heaps of gil.

As for character development, well, haha gotta say FFX. The Sphere Grid was innovative and well, just made a lot of sense.

Hm, if we're talking Final Fantasy, I liked FFX's battle system, although I'm not a fan of frequent random encounters LOL :)

If we're talking SE as a whole, I would choose Romancing SaGa - I loved how each character could be whatever you wanted them to be, the battle system and weaponry was very, very deep, and could be very personalized to what you like best. There are TONS of job classes, and the opportunity to train any character into a Legendary job class as well. I also liked that there were enemy icons on the field that you could choose to encounter, or not - or at least you knew when they were there.

First of all I would jjust like to say that TWEWY's battle system > all.

But if we are talk about FF then I'm afraid that it would have to be FFIX. But then we are all going to say our favorite FF anyway >_>

I don't know what are others opinions, but IMO,I think that some of the gameplay concepts introduced in FFIV and FFVI battle system were the most important of all,and they created the underlying foundation of the entire turn-based JRPG genre. If there weren't either of these two games,we wouldn't be seeing materia and stuff today.

That said, the most refined combat I enjoyed the most in SE games has to be FFVIII. I know I will get hate for this, but the reason why the FFVIII never gained so much love from fans like FFVII was because most of the changes in FFVIII were far too drastic for fans to relate it to the rest of the series.

In recent memory I think Persona 2 and Shadow Hearts 2 had interesting gameplay as well.

Out of all the FFs my favorite is easily FF7. Despite that my fav battle system is FF10-2 no contest. This is assuming we are just counting the JRPGs because if we are counting FFT then it wins but they are so different I would count them separately. Completely different genres and all.

My favourite gameplay is from FF X. I loved being forced to use all the characters and how they excelled at different things. :)

Otherwise my favourite game play aspect was Unlimited SaGa's battle system. I HATED the random reel thing, but I loved teh fact that you had 7 party members and you got to choose how many people can act in one turn and how many times too. It actually made the whole "Party" thing make sense where everyone can participate rather than you just having only 3 characters fight at all ties and let the non active party members do nothing but watch. I know this isn't Final Fantasy gameplay, but it's still Square Enix. =]
