I think in FFX they should have developed more of the whole world that you travel on rather than just selecting places to go to like dots on a screen.  Also, I remember on playstation, FF games used to made into 3 or 4 discs.  I realize that FFX can take over a hundred hours to complete everything.  Do you think Square-Enix isn't putting as much quality into their games as they did in the past?  They could have made FFX into 2 discs or more.

If you can make a Final Fantasy on one disk, what the point in having more than one disk.

The only reason there were more than 1 disks on the other FF's is because they couldn't hold all the information on one disk. But PS2 disks can hold more information and technology :)

Well Final Fantasy Tactics was only made on one disc and that game was great but the other FF games that came out on the PS1 were made on several discs.

FFX had value beyond value and that was all just on a ps2 disk...so I dont think it is needed.

On the PS2 many different types of games still take up one whole disc such as driving games, shooting, fighting, and action adventure games.  Meanwhile I realize that a game like Grand Theft Auto has a whole lot on it for a game but the graphics are not the best.  I believe lots of those different types of games I listed still take up a whole disc.  I also, realize that back in the SNES days FF games took up only one cartridge but you could definitely see a difference in the graphics and the length of the game.  I realize some action adventure games like Resident Evil 4 and Metal Gear Solid 3 can take around 20 hours to beat playing for the first time.  The graphics in FFX are no better than MGS3 or RE4.  Since so many different types of games are using only one whole disc, I still think FF games should be made on 2 or more discs to improve graphics and the quality of the game.

I have no problem with it being on one disk. I remember playing Final Fantasy when it was just the cartridge. How will it change? You have to give some consideration to technology. Data can be easily compressed and yet come out high quality. Would you be unhappy if the future Final Fantasy franchises come out with on a single disk?

ok a CD holds 700mb. so they needed more space. a dvd can hold around 8gb for the ps2. so thats y they didnt need more space. and FFX does take hundreds of hours to beat nemesis and to max out the sphere grid. so next time do some research before posting something like this

well, it's a little strange playing on just one disc, but it's a lot more convenient not having to change discs to continue the game.

i agree with the author. i think if they DID expand it, they coulda fit an entire travellable world map. but i don't think it would have worked as well for FFX seeing it as the kinda game it is, there was story and secrets at almost every nook and cranny of the world.

ps2 discs hold more info than the ps1 discs. just look at umd movies they can fit a whole 2hr movie on that! it's the ever growing beast that is called technology! but one disc is ok just as they don't get stingy with anything

If each disc of Final Fantasy VII was completely full it would be 2100mb.   So if a DVD can hold 8000mb you can fit FF VII almost four times on a DVD and that's if they didn't compress it anymore than it was.   I'm sure a PS2 disk could easily hold FFVII-IX in one disk (hint, hint Square-Enix).   Anyways what's the problem with only having one disk, it's better.

Possibly it depends on how much I like the game.  I just feel that a world map should have been added to the game.  Also, I don't notice a difference in FFX graphics compared to some of the other PS2 games out there like driving, fighting, and other types of games.  Back on the PS1 FF games had better graphics than your driving, fighting, and other games out there.  I'm assuming that they didn't put in a world map because they didn't have enough space on one disc to do so.  The graphics are good enough for me in FFX but I would still like to have a world map that you could travel on.

I'm hoping there is a world map you can travel on in FFXII.

As for beating nemesis and maxing out the sphere grid, who cares.  SE put way to much effort into making your characters become that strong because its pointless.  When you beat nemises you get some item and thats it.  Its like they are trying to make numbers get as high as they can but it holds no value what so ever.  Nemesis is like the only monster in the game that I can't beat and I'm not going to waste 20 or more hours of my life trying to beat him.  I'm not saying I don't like a challenge because I liked what they did with Ruby, Emerald weapon, and the other monsters in FF8.    I guess one disc is good enough but I still would like a world map that you could travel on in FF games.  The length of the game isn't the problem, its what they are doing with the disc space.

I wouldn't say that is completly true afterall Chrono Cross had graphics on par to the PS Final Fantasy games and it consisted of a much smaller budget. I think the world map was the change needed from previous installments since I thought it did become slightly tedious. Really would you want the next FF to be like Shadow of Collosus yet with constant battles in between finding a new area?

One disc? Maybe if it were a Double layer dvd with 8.5 Gb minimum. Or a Blu-Ray. if a Final Fantasy would have only 1 cd of 700 mb it wouldn't be nice, how many hours can someone play on a 700 mb cd? A few years ago when the games were not well concepted they could have been good , but now?
