I got into an argument with a friend of mine about whether or not Jecht should be considered evil simply because he became Sin. I would enjoy your input to try and put it to rest.
I think that no, Jecht is not evil. Granted, the complete being of Sin can be considered evil, as it brings death and pain. But the thing to keep in mind is that the complete Sin includes both the turned Final Summon and Yu Yevon. I believe that Jecht himself is still good, despite his situation, and that Yu Yevon, his controller, is the evil one. A fine line, I understand, but a line that's there.
For one, Jecht sacrificed himself even though he knew what would happen. So that puts him on the side of good to start. Later, as Sin, he brings Tidus to Spira, effectively starting the events that would kill him. He wanted to be killed so that he would stop killing. I don't know many villains that would do that. Finally, i think that it is Yu Yevon that should be considered evil. Saying that Jecht is evil is like saying a horse is evil simply because it bears an evil master.
I think he is good too.I'm not gonna explain why because u said everything I was gonna say.I guess that was one of FFX's flaws,the entity you think is evil throughout the game is actually just a sheild for it's controller Yu Yevon.And then they gotta make him so easy.

Is this told in the beginning or end? I'm replaying the game to get a better feel of the story.
if i remember right who ever beat sin was going to be sin, so since tidus was going to beat sin he would be sin and he wasnt evil. further more once you are sin you cant control yourself and technically you arent evil even though you are sin but sin itself is evil.

Jecht might still be good, but when he became Sin, I think that he had this mental pressure to destroy the humans for their going against Yu Yevon and this pressure was probaly coming from Yu Yevon in the first place so Yu Yevon is the evil one as sin is pretty much a puppet of Yu Yevon and puppets can't really be considered evil...
Jecht is good. He had became the Final Summon for Lord Braska. When he destroyed Sin, he had to become Sin. He became a shield or barrier for Yu Yevon. He can't really stop himself from destroying humans. He wants to be stopped and he wants his son Tidus to do it.Â
of course he es good and they clear that issue up, rigth in the game maybe you didnt see it but in the game you can totally understand that jecht is nothing but a puppet of the destiny he chose in order to save the humanity.
