I believe that if Cloud could defeat him then Squall definitely could and would. Especially if he had his lionheart. Plus it's a gunblade. He may have never use the gun part of his blade for long range in the game, but Yazoo in Advent Children demonstrated the use of the gunblade as a long range weapon. Even if the long range attacks fail, squall could match sephiroth in swordplay, and with that it would be a tie.Â

I agree, too many people want to have Sephiroth's babies here. Here's a list of enemies who would whoop Sephiroths Ass in no order: 1)Zeromus 2)Kefka 3)Ozma 4)Vaan-With the power of Seduction, Sephiroth can't resist young boys. 5)Necron 6)Shinryu 7)Omega 8)Bahamut 9)A Tonberry 10)Ultros-Don't mess with the octopus  Not all of these are particularly true, but if there is one thing that I can't stand it's ignorance towards the series as a whole. I can't stand the rabid fanwhoring of FFVII and it's characters. You know, there's more to FF than FFVII, FFVIII, and FFX.
no one can beat sephiroth except cloud. cloud had an inspiring cause and it was personal so squall wouldnt be able to do it. it was like with the revolutionary war. the colonists had an inspiring cause which helped drive them to victory. ( i no there is more to the A. R. then that but thats not the point). having a cause has more of an impact then just skill and strength. u have to set ur mind to something in order to do something and just putting a char against sephiroth wouldnt give them a good enough cause to actually beat him.
I just want to say that the gunblade isn't a long range weapon. Squall pulled the trigger of his gunblade a lot in FF VIII which you got him to do by pressing R1 while he was slashing.

Yeah, Squall used the gun function of his gunblade to up the damage on his attacks. I was saying it might be possible to use it as a long range weapon, like Yazoo did in Advent Children. If a simpleton like Yazoo could do it, Squall could definitely do it.
id hate to end this debate but i have to spehiroth has been defeated twice by cloud in one on one battles in the end of FFVII cloud defeats sephiroth with omnislash and in the end of FFVII AC cloud defeats sephiroth with omnislash thus proving that cloud can defeat sephiroth in a one on one battle. i hope that this is enough proof that cloud can defeat sephiroth in one on one combat if not then i could find more evidence but i think that that will be enough to prove it

How about Squall, Zell, Auron, Tidus, Yuna, Vivi, Lulu, Wakka, Zidane, Seifer, Rinoa, Selphie, Cecil, Locke, Sabin, Princess Garnet (Dagger), Cyan, Cid (FFIV), Quistis, Ramza, Seymour, Kuja, Vaan, Kain, Rosa, Algus(yes ALGUS), Amarant, Steiner, Quina, Relm, and even Kimarhi to name a few. Standard Geezards from FFVIII, imps, and garden variety bull frogs could kill him. He's not that strong. Get over him and stop kissing his ass PLEASE! He's not that powerful. in final fatasy 7 cloud defeats sephiroth's final form by himself with omnislash in a one on one fight and in advent children cloud fights sephiroth by himself without help from his friends and he uses omnislash to defeat sephiroth the only fight in advent children where all his friends help him is the fight against bahamut except for the fight against kuja where vincent helps him. watch advent children and see he fights sephiroth alone without anyone helping him sephiroth isnt that strong he just looks cool and has the legendary katana masamune thats about all he is i know he looks like he is the greatest villain but hes not.

Another reason this needs to be closed because very few people look at it from the characters' actual powers so it all comes down to a popularity contest. Sephiroth is not the most powerful person in the FF universe, lets look at all the games and be realistic. Closed.
