This union seems very geared towards the newer FF's what about I-VI who here likes them?   My personal favorite is IV out of all the FF's.   I find that it's just fun to play.   What about you?   Which older FF's do you like (I-VI)?

I'm totally old-school.  FFVI is my favorite game of all time!  I loved FFV for the Faris plot twist.  I loved FFIV for the fact that you had Kain the Dragoon!  Oh, BTW, nice Edward avatar!

Cheers!

You know what I've actually never played FFVI for more than 4 hours.   I do have a good reason though...   I have the Playstation version.   Anyways I'm constanly on the look out for the Super Nintendo version (I'm not a huge fan of Ebay).   I still haven't found it yet though.

If you're looking for the SNES version, make sure to look for FFIII! Anyway, my favorite was Final Fantasy (in general) was VI. It had so much too it! Anyway, most people onlly really know the more modern Final Fantasys because they're becoming what more and more people start the series with. The old school FFs are being remade making it (hopefully) easier to get those elusive titles.

Yes, I realize that FFVI was originally released as FFIII.   Anyways I find it crazy that up until recently lots of people thought that FF III DS was FFVI.   I said it quite a bit before but I'll say it again.   It's weird how Square changed the numbering to avoid confusion but ended up causing more confusion then they ever could have imagined.

well your right, ive only beaten 7-10 (and doc) which are the newer ones. but i recently bought dawn of souls for the gba and im about 3/4 way through ff1 and i must admit im finding it quite fun for such an old school game. obviously it doesnt have all the bells and whistles of the later games, but at the core i can definately sense strong similarities between the newer and older games. so, to all the people that dont think theyll like the older ones, you should give them a shot, they dont bite...hard. plus, if you consider yourself a true final fantasy fan, your almost obligated to play the original game.

the older FF games seem to improve with each FF. strangely though, i prefer FFI over FFII and FFIV. i honestly dont know why. FFI is a nice game, very simple yet i thought it was interesting because i have never played a dated game like this. FFII gives the first story and seems ahead of its time, however it can be a pain sometimes. great but its my least favourite in the series. FFIV was love at first but i then changed my mind. FFIV advance is a bit better and more satisfying and overall a great game, cecil is really cool. FFV is a gem if you can appreciate it. more light hearted and a huge battle system( maybe a bit too huge). FFVI is my favourite of the older FFs and my third favourite FF overall. i needed time to appreciate it though.

they have something which the newer ones dont seem to have.

Out of the earlier games, I'd have to say VI was my favorite followed by IV. I had Sabin so powered up that I would just walk around with him and battle. :D

Slinky, you spoony bard... I prefer the old FFs over the new ones. FFVI is my favorite FF and probably my second favorite RPG. The old FFs have something that the new ones just dont have. I recommend getting your hands on FFVI/(III) as soon as you can and playing it through all the way. I do understand your frustration with the PS version. The PS has enough memory in the system to fit the whole game on it so there would be no load times, but Square got lazy and thus the PS versions are stuck with the absolutely terrible stalls between gameplay.

Not the original III I swear that game is my second favorite FF so the remake should be even better.   I'm glad they chose to remake it in 3D.

Well the older games are My only real concern, with FFIV being one of my  all time favorite games. But All older games were very good in my eyes. The newer game Like XII just dont have what it takes to be a good game in my eyes. Ive burnt myself out on the newer games and I'd rather focus on the earlier games.
