I've just got into Final Fantasy when I bought FFVII last month. I'm enjoying it very much and am already on the second disc. I'm planning to FFX next as I did have years ago but gave up on it, now I want to complete it proper. After that I think I should get FFVIII and FFIX. But i'm wondering if I should bother. I want the games and they look amazing but I'm trying to catch with the current FF games and feel I'm way behind. I'll also probably have less time to play as I'm going into work soon. Plus these games are quite hard to find at a good price (especially FFIX). What should I do? Buy FFVIII and FFIX or buy FFXII when it comes out.

realistically if you dont have much spare time then dont try and play VIII  and IX as it will just be too hard to try and play both. you still have a long wait before FF12 so if you pick say VIII and play that even for just 4-5 hours a week then you should have it finished in a month or two

I'd bypass VIII and IX, though both are fantastic games, I'd recomend playing VI. If you think you can handle going back to the SNES days of FF, you will not be disappointed.

Personally, I would play VIII and IX. It is really up to you, though.

And VI would be a better choice. It was greater than great.

I recommend playing X and completing it, and then see how you like the medievil themed Final Fantasys by giving IX a go and if you're not bothered by the 2-D graphics, then pick up FFVI (as a part of FF Anthology preferably).

You should really play those games while you wait for FFXII, if your having trouble finding them try ebay or amazon.

You shouldn't miss VIII and IX, they are as great as VII (in my opinion).

Yeah. I agree with you. I also thought that FF8 and FF9 were a bit horrible.
