So what happened to the FFVII sequel everyone and his stepmama was talking about a few months ago? I saw stories, and images, and Square supposedly had confimed the release... but I see no news of it at E3 or on any of the game sites (that I go to). Does anyone know what became of it? It was supposed to be a console release, based on the events that happened before Crisis...

I'm sorry, Jr_chaos, but I don't agree with your "sentiment". Of all the FF games released since FFVII, FFVII was and still is the best of all the series. SECOND, in my opinion, is FFIX - when played properly. Everything else was total trash and Kiddie fodder - especially FFX and X-2. I wrote this topic because of my ANTICIPATION of a sequel for this GREAT TITLE, not - as you inferred - because of any disdain.

FFVII is my favourite too, but i like them all, and personally i dnt think a remake of it is necessary really...tho i wouldn't mind 1...
It was just a tech demo for the PS3...not a game. Some on the board hoped for a game though... joe603

man i tottaly agree with you; it was a tech demo.And although we all hoped for a sequel or a remake there never was a big chance that square enix would do such a thing and make one on ps3
this was never going to happen realistically . even-though developers at square enix have hinted at wanting to do it the company has repeatedly stated that there is no plans to remake it.
Personally, I don't want a remake as that would give Square less people, money, whatever to focus on some of their crazy games that are still in development.

I was really hoping for one. However the news of FFXIII more then made up for it in my case.
And if you are really FF VII starved, there is still Crisis Core for the PSP on the way.
I think that with this whole "Compilation of Final Fantasy VII" buisiness the best way to end it would be to give everyone what they want: A remake of Final Fantasy VII for PS3. I find it hard to believe that Square uses the excuse of how it would take to long to make... wouldn't any Final Fantasy for PS3 take the same length? So why not FFVII? Everyone wants it (well mostly everyone), Square knows everyone wants it, and they know it will sell like hotcakes. I think they should remake it to end the whole compilation, and in a sense it would return FFVII to it's roots. FFVII was an RPG and will all these spin-offs not a single one has remained faithful to FFVII in the sense that it was an RPG. All of these new games feel more like experiments by Square to see how we react to them, and to ease everyone down they use the most popular Final Fantasy game. Although I am not complaining, I love FFVII so I am glad to see all these exciting new games come out of it, I just wish that we could get a recreation of the original.
