Really good voice acting can add a lot to a game, but I sure do miss being able to name my characters whatever I wanted (within six to eight characters). It really went a long way to personalizing the RPG experience for me. Plus, it gave my little brother a great outlet for his prankster ways: I remember he named Cyan "Happy" and Setzer "Stupid." A little disrespectful, I thought, but boy was the opera house vignette funny....

I don't mind it, I think it's better because it gives the characters more development in some ways.

I'm with you!

I absolutely loooved Namingway. I really started to miss the re-naming of the characters. It started with VI - where you could only rename them once. VII followed suit and then in VIII you could only rename Squall and Rinoa. :( I remember I used to always name the characters after my friends and I. It made it so much more fun!

I did that in FF1 in Dawn of Souls, but I don't really mind it being taken off.

I never used Namingway. I prefer to have set characters... makes it seem more like a proper story not random wanderings..

the only character i used that on were the main character that the game was about. also i was only about 5 years old when i started playing video games and by then the ps1 was about to come out so because i don't have many memories of that i don't really mind that it's gone. but i do see your point about it making the game more personal.
