FFVIII and Squall pwn. I think ppl forget about FFVIII and don't see how nice the gameplay and story is. FFVII and FFVIII are the best games of FF ever in my opinion. Let me hear you guys and see if it's not just me. Things like Lionheart, Ultimecia, etc are unforgetable.
FFVIII, in my opinion, is a solid game, but nothing spectacular. The first 2 disks are very good, but then disk 3 & 4 are absolute garbage. The game kind of loses sight of its original intentions and shifts over to something that is unlike its original build up. Definitely worth a play, but not the pinnacle of FF games.
Yeah I hear a lot of that too, and FFVIII made me a gamer too. It's true that the thing about "closing" all the cities in disk 4 is really uncool. But the game's pretty solid. It really made start LOVING games. Haha, since FFVIII, the love, the passion i felt for it made me play more and more gamers over and over. And the story and characters are so great. Man... i have no words for it, but i do respect the opinion of those who don't think FFVIII as one of the best FF ever. Not everybody has the same opinion. In MY opinion, it pwns all.
In MY opinion, it owns all. FFVIII is really amazing. For it characters, gameplay and story. It made me a gamer too lol. The passion the love i felt for it made me play more games over and over, and well, after a while, i became addicted to games hehe =P. Thanks to FFVIII. Well, but I DO respect others ppl opinion, we can't all have the same.
FF8 is amazing. By no means was the game a let down, unlike ff9. I can't understand how so many people like ff9? Once again this all just my opinion but ff9 wasn't the kind of final fantasy game I was expecting.
Well I have actually played it twice. Both times hard to get through the game. I find that the story was pretty good, but honestly to me the gameplay just was a total let down. After playing it the second time, I could not even finish the game. I will most likely never be playing VIII again.

i played the ending like 6 times already just to watch the cg ending, and also i like watching squalls Lion Heart limitbreak, and rhinoa's shooting star
ive played the game twice, my favorite final fantasy of all. i dont mind the bad things they say about the third and fourth cd, and i even agree that the gameplay is not one of the best, but for me, the story kept me propelled to the game flowing as if i'm a live expectator on the scenes. the movie sequences were great, giving real touches to the story. fviii tha best!
Final Fantasy VIII is one of those games that one side just absolute love it, while the other side absolute loathe it. It's like Metal Gear Solid, or Killer7, not everyone will get into those games, but they're still great games.
I love, Final Fantasy VIII, and I'm pretty much glad it isn't getting a lot of attention, I don't want Square Enix to ruin it with spin-offs like they did to, Final Fantasy VII.
