I would like to see Locke Cole from Final Fantasy VI in a treasure hunting adventure. Maybe Locke's Quest for the Legendary Magicite Shard of Midas. How about you guys? I think it would be interesting to hear your ideas. No constraints. Be as creative and detailed as you like.Odinunlimited
That would be cool. I think a "prequel" game of sorts for Locke would be sweet - like when he was with Rachel treasure hunting all over the world. Which makes me wonder, did Locke know Edgar and Sabin before the events in FFVI too? 'Cause then they could be in the game too.
Anyways, I'd also like to see a Fran/Balthier game. Some sort of bounty hunting/sky pirate game where you just travel the skies and search for rare, expensive treasure.

A game with Locke and Rachel would be great but would it finish with
Rachel's dead ?
SPOILER WARNINGS SPOILER WARNINGS!!!
Hmmm. I have to agree with the Fran/Balthier game, and I wouldn't doubt SquareEnix will do one. They can actually make a good quality game out of this, there's plenty of backstory to do. Well Fran/Balthier are pirates, however did they ever actually have a crew? You never hear him mention a crew, so maybe he had one at one time? You never know! Yeah a Locke prequal would be cool, they could end it in very different ways, it could work! In a Fran/Balthier prequal you could learn about how they met, while seeing the subtle political intrigue, such as how Vayne kills his other two brothers, and the story with Landis and Gabranth. Even though Landis is only mentioned a few times, I thought it was underappreciated. We understand from the story something happened at Landis with the Empire, and Gabranth ends up joining them; but what? I thought they really needed to expand on the Rozzarian empire. However I always wondered if Rozzaria was in-fact the continent or another name for the area Ramza adventures in? When you play Final Fantasy Tactics you don't actually exlpore the whole continent, there's plenty you haven't seen. I want to know how Cid met Venat, why Balthier was made a judge. You see? There's plenty to go on! They could even use Judge Jecht (Reddas). I really LOVED Judge Drace, she had an awsome voice, and sounded exactly like what a surragate mother should. Not only that but I thought she deserved more of a backstory... :( Like I said a prequal would do this game good, if they do a quality job.
I agree thatSquareEnixshould stick to RPGs or Action/Adventure. Since Dirge of Cerberus was not a very big hit in the new outbranching shooter genre I think they should try again ... with Yuffie in a Stealth "Splinter Cell - esque" game!!! Dawn some night gogglemask thingiesand sneak around Wutai in training with her Dad on the mountain ... or ... something along those lines. It could be another try in a genre they are't very good at.Or they could have "Dirge of Cerberus II : Ivalice under Fire" staring Balthier!

I don't think they'd do another Dirge of Cerberus without Vincet because the dirge is a part of a gun, and Cerberus is the name of his gun. It refers to Vincet. I wouldn't want them to tarnish the name of Balthier with that series. Now don't get me wrong it actually wasn't a bad game, just not really good. There are a LOT worst FPS out there. It was very good when it came to story, and it actually had originality, just peolpe being picky and elitist when it comes to their FPS. I think it's because people have played some major named ones like Halo, and think that the game sucks because it doesn't set the bar very high for Dirge of Cerberus. I don't blame them though, they were trying something new. I really liked the game, although it was a renter, not a buyer.
So what about a game with Shadow as a main character...rob trains, meet Relms mom...could be good timesN8A
Hahaha, yea that would be kinda cool. I just really wanna see something based off of FF6. Not necessarily a spin-off, but more like a continuing story for one (or more) of the characters.
You kinda spoiled that..... Any way, maybe it could play something like one of those Ninja games Sony spouts every so often, I forget the name. I do know it had good battle mechanics. :) I wonder though, would you be playing as Shadow, or Clyde. (The real shadow) Hmmm....wonder if there is a Bonnie to go with him? Hahahaha! No really, I think the video game might make the ESRB go a little crazy unless they toned it down, and made it a kiddy game or something. Good idea's keep'em flowin'!Andraxal
NO!! Sorry to yell, but if they do a spin-off with Shadow, it should not be like Ninja Gaiden. That game was way too hard.

Yea, I agree with Cecil. A Ninja-Gaiden style game would not suit Shadow. It should stay RPG. I just really think that it would take him out of his element. I know he's a ninja but...Idk...I just can't seem him in a game like that.
A Shadow game would be cool though. I mean, we don't really know anything about him.

I thought that the difficulty was very uneven: The hardest boss was the first, the easiest one the last and the game generally got easier as you learned better moves.
Back on topic: I'd go with the Balthier/Fran idea that was mentioned (originally be queen_valentine) earlier. I suggest that in addition there could be a different game style for boarding other ships, possibly like Sid Meier's Pirates!, but a little more serious. It could also borrow some ideas from the C64 c1assic Elite.
However, as someone else suggested earlier, Square has a pretty poor record with these spin-off games. He held Dirge of Cerberus as an example (and he was right), but I think that Ehrgeiz was even worse.

Yeah, I think the Balthier/Fran spin-off should be part of the Ivaliace Alliance.
And as far as quality of the spin-offs yeah, they haven't been the greatest with Dirge of Cerberus in mind. However, hopefully Revenant Wings and Crisis Core will change all that.
Funny though, both RW and CC both have their roots placed in previous installments of the FF series. I wonder if that has something to do with those spin-offs (possibly) being better?
(And by established roots, I mean they are either directly following up to a major game [CC] or directly after a main game [RW]).
I'm telling you, give it some time. Balthier will probably become a spin off master. :) Andraxal
Do you think? I wonder ifafter FFTA2,there will be more games for the Ivalice Alliance... I think not, but only SE knows :P
I wonder if they will announce other compilations for othergames in the series... XD

I think the reason Crystal Chronicles was better was simply because Square clearly put a lot of time and effort into it (that game had very high production values). The same can't be said of the FFVII spin-offs so far (which have just been cheap cash-ins), though as you say they may soon change. We'll see. ;)

Yes! I agree! CC had very high production value!! That was actually a really fun game though. I have done the multiplayer with up to 3 people, and it gets to be really fun.
I think that game has some of the best looking water graphics. (I have this weird thing about water graphics, it's one of the first things I look for, as far as graphics go :P)
Again - I am hoping for RW and CC to do well here.

Ah, lucky you. I never got the chance to play CC in multiplayer and the game just wasn't designed to be a single player game. Everything costs twice as much over here as it does in the US, so I didn't have a single friend who had GBA, GBA to GC link cable and a desire to play CC (it doesn't help that most of my friends are broke  ).
Crystal Chronicals was pretty good.......thought i havent finished........... maybe cause none of my firends wanted to buy the GBA link thing so we could multiplay..........so i played single and the fun didn't last as long as it should have T__T oh well.......its on my small list of unfinished games..........along with Baten Kaitos and the eternal wings............. and i sitll hafta kill the last boss in VIII O__ostarnerd67
Oh yeah I know! I've got a HUGE list of unfinished games too! Baten Kaitos is definitely on that list. hahaha, I thought that game got really hard once you got on disc 2.

I finished Baten Kaitos Origins ....... That was a really good game and i recomend that to everyone............ Baten Kaitos and the eternal wings (the first one) isn't really good ......... amazing to me how the sequal (prequal) would be better than the subpar original.
anyways lol
Balthier/Fran starwars / firefly like game would be really cool .... doubt it will due to all the games SE is currently having to deal with............ But it would be awsome
Well, you didn't have to play it multiplayer. I did a lot of playing single-player too. queen_valentine
You're right that it was perfectly playable in single player, but I know that I missed out on the best that CC had to offer as it was clearly designed as a multiplayer game. In fact a lot of the game's great features were only available in multiplayer and actually having them would really have enhanced the experience for me.
By the way, I didn't really like Baten Kaitos on the GC. I got really hacked off at how slow the battles were and having to rebuild my deck repeatedly (because a healing item evolved into a weapon) bogged the game down even more.

The thing that really got me was that the original got positive reviews, though I wonder if this is in part because there were barely a handful of GC RPGs (if that).
Oh, and if you want really bad voice acting, you ought to play some early PS games again: The original Resident Evil has voice acting and dialogue so bad, it's often funny. This is especially true of the cheesy FMV sequences that had a real "home made" feel to them (though anyone else would have done a better job with a camcorder and a few friends ;) ).
Really? Origins was actually better than the first one? That's really cool.
And yeah, BK really did have HORRIBLE voice acting. I shut it off right away!

 I know it!!! Sooooo horribly done...hahahahahahaha. :P
Please look at DMC 1, daer god. I got to the final boss and I couldn't stop laughing at how cheesy it was. Andraxal
 Yeah, just what is it with Capcom and really poor dialogue and voice acting? I'm now wondering if a Capcom would sound right if it didn't feature cheesy dialogue that's poorly voiced. ;)
As bad now as it undoubtedly is, I still think that you revisit the original PS version of Resident Evil: I did so not long ago and I honestly say that I can't remember seeing worse video sequences, dialogue or acting (it still brings a tear to my eye now ;) ).
I think Monteblanc could have his own. Make it a FF tactics game where he sets up clan Centurio before the events of FF12. That is if the clan is not the one from FFTA. I think it might be, but i'm not sure.Moogleman23
SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah Montblanc definitely could. However I don't think he'll ever have a leading role because he's a bit shy, small and furry too. He seems like a side lines kinda character. Final Fantasy main characters usually are not like that. FFTA didn't really happen, since it was created by a childs imagination. No, can't be. Sorry to be a dream stomper all of a sudden! :) Yeah the real Montblanc is the one from FFXII. I liked that one much better any how, he seemed to be teeming with personality!

I'd totally buy a game that featured Montblanc as the main character. Moogles are the cutest things ever.
