I'd have to make choices depending on what kind of gamer I am representing...:
Old School Hardcore Gamer: FFVI
New Gen Hard Core Gamer: FFVII
Kindergarten, Handholding, FF Inexperienced, "Let the game play itself while I just watch with dead brains" Gamer: FFX
Kindergarten, Handholding, FF Inexperienced, "Let the game play itself while I just watch with dead brains" FEMALE Gamer: FFX
Pasty Face, pinple poppin', "90210 + Clueless devotee" Gamer: FFVIII
BTW - I'm not writing this in response to anyone's post here or addressing anyone at all - just statin' my opinion in hte raw...
final fantasy 7 and 10 the characters were very close
and new each other before their story even began to unfold
FF VI.
1. The game spends a lot of time exploring the background of each character (well, maybe not Umaro....)
2. Many characters could be considered the lead: Terra, Locke and Celes especially (kind of like FFXII from what I hear)
3. No game in the FF series keeps your interest as well as FF VI when characters branch off from one another. Several times in the game, your up to 14 party members will be broken up to achieve different objectives. Many of these times, massive amounts of storyline will occur. Could you imagine trying to focus on storyline concerning Cait Sith, Yuffie and Barrett when your other group would be Cloud, Tifa and Red? The characters in VI are just that good. FFIX tried the split up too and it worked to some extent. Still, the story got kind of boring when Zidane wasn't around.
Anyways, great game with the best supporting cast among all the FFs so far. I know that VII, VIII, IX and X all provide great casts, but they do so in a much smaller quantity. VI was Square's true breakout game if you ask me, not VII.
I think that the best was the one from FFVIII because I felt them like a real group. They were like one with the main cast.....I also felt that every single one of them blended perfectly in the group without feeling that there was an awkward or forced addition.......I feel a special attachment for them..... Â
