With all the focus on the main characters, it's easy to forget who help get them through the minions of evil troops & boss battles. Final Fantasy is full of great support characters who play minor & major roles in the stories. In the FF series from VI-X, which lead character had the better supporting cast. Please give reasons for why you pick your cast of second fiddlers.

I would have to go with Final Fantasy VII. For some reason, I feel the cast waas very close to each other. They were liek family. Final Fantasy X comes in second.

Easy. FFVI. It had such a huge cast and they all had such awesome and unique backstories. Almots all were fully developed and each character complemented each other perfectly. Also, yet another reason as to why FFVI is the best FF. :D

Im going with FFVII but it was really close to the supporting cast in this game and FFVIII.

Turks versus Seifer,Raijin and Fujin

Really the main characters are the playable ones(Seifer is only playable for a short amount of time) so the ones i choose are valid choices since they do not join your main party.

FFIX, Zidane, Garnet or Eiko or sometimes Quina, Steiner and Vivi. In that games you cant win with only a strong warrior, you need support, and the characters are very complementary

I'd have to say VII. It has a good number of characters, and despite some of them really just being tag ons to make the story work (Cid, Cait Sith), I think it's a good supporting cast.

Well I would say FFVI but when you come to think of it is there really a supporting cast? A main character even? Not really no. I think if there had to be a main character then it would have to be Terra but all the other characters have such amazing backstories and personalities that they could just as easily be the main characters. FFVI's cast are the most detailed in any Final Fantasy in my opinion and that is why they get my vote.

Easy. FFVI which had relatively quite a lot of cast. They all have unique back story. They are all mentioned in the ending too.

If people's Final Fantasy experience began with VII, you owe it to yourself to play VI even though the graphics are 2-D, the story is what get's you involved. And I agree with people who said that VI didn't have a main character because just about every character ( the 16 or so) where given every chance to shine & had a story of their own. I would go with VI myself because the main characters & the support characters where one. Even though the US II wasn't an option to pick, it had a great support cast as well.

I'd have to make choices depending on what kind of gamer I am representing...:

Old School Hardcore Gamer: FFVI

New Gen Hard Core Gamer: FFVII

Kindergarten, Handholding, FF Inexperienced, "Let the game play itself while I just watch with dead brains" Gamer: FFX

Kindergarten, Handholding, FF Inexperienced, "Let the game play itself while I just watch with dead brains" FEMALE Gamer: FFX

Pasty Face, pinple poppin', "90210 + Clueless devotee" Gamer: FFVIII

BTW - I'm not writing this in response to anyone's post here or addressing anyone at all - just statin' my opinion in hte raw...

FF VI.

1. The game spends a lot of time exploring the background of each character (well, maybe not Umaro....)

2. Many characters could be considered the lead: Terra, Locke and Celes especially (kind of like FFXII from what I hear)

3. No game in the FF series keeps your interest as well as FF VI when characters branch off from one another. Several times in the game, your up to 14 party members will be broken up to achieve different objectives. Many of these times, massive amounts of storyline will occur. Could you imagine trying to focus on storyline concerning Cait Sith, Yuffie and Barrett when your other group would be Cloud, Tifa and Red? The characters in VI are just that good. FFIX tried the split up too and it worked to some extent. Still, the story got kind of boring when Zidane wasn't around.

Anyways, great game with the best supporting cast among all the FFs so far. I know that VII, VIII, IX and X all provide great casts, but they do so in a much smaller quantity. VI was Square's true breakout game if you ask me, not VII.

I think that the best was the one from FFVIII because I felt them like a real group. They were like one with the main cast.....I also felt that every single one of them blended perfectly in the group without feeling that there was an awkward or forced addition.......I feel a special attachment for them.....

I would say FFVI because there wasn't really an exact 'main character'. A player could choose to use any of the available characters and then find out their stories and their histories. There was a lot of room for free thinking.
